  1. This Team Has No JAM!

    We need to sign MJ....
  2. [Official] Vancouver Whitecaps Thread

Continuity has always been an issue. Not saying the Caps should have hanger-ons, but it's good to have guys who are intertwined in the city and community long-term. Waston is perhaps the primary key player now and has been since he arrived, but he is already 29 and maybe have only a few more years good in him. Chances are Parker will be one of the key pieces going forward, along with Davies and maybe Mezquida. I was very disappointed that Ousted got low-balled. He was given a chance to stay on as the backup, but it would have required a massive pay cut. He's a little older now, but he's still very reliable. Should have at least let him play the playoff games as his last kick in the can or something. It's gonna be weird when cheering on the goalkeeper when he kicks the ball now. "OOOOOHHHHH!!!!! MARINOVIC!!!!"

Nobody said he was making the opposition cowering in fear. Fact: He's playing in key defensive situations Fact: He's being utilized heavily on the PK Fact: He's very defensively reliable But lets make it easier for you to understand. Who is better defensively..... Gaunce or Goldobin? Gaunce or Boucher? Answer me that.

You mean Megna when he was on the 1st line? lol Gaunce is on the 4th line, becoming a go-to guy defensively and on the PK. I don't ever remember WD trusting Megna to protect a lead.... but Green constantly have Gaunce out during those important times. Gaunce hasn't been scoring.... you make it sound like everyone else is scoring tons, except him. Brandon Sutter has only 2 goals... and one of them was an empty netter gifted by Gaunce. Complaining about Gaunce not providing offense is like also complaining that Gudbranson isn't piling up point either. This isn't some whatever incarnation of NHL video game on the console, not every players' main goal is to provide offense. Brendan Gaunce's role is to defend, protect the lead, on the PK, play physical..... to give players like the Horvat and Baertschi more rest so they can focus on offense. BTW... if you rather have Goldobin or Boucher on the PK or defending a lead in the dying minutes of a game....

He's good on the forecheck. He creates turnovers, he creates chances. Quite a few time he hits the post or the goalie makes a huge save. While the stat line doesn't shows it, he does pass the eye-ball test.

He's already a scorer in the AHL. More time in the minors isn't going to help him to score in the NHL.
  7. I believe Birmingham in the 7th district and it is the largest city in Alabama. So pretty much that one city/district won it all.
  8. Jim Benning's Drafting

Just to be fair, Yann Sauve was the #1 pick in the QMJHL. Got size, skating, skills.... and supposedly only need the right coach to unlock his full potential. Obviously he didn't pan out as expected, easy to be 20/20 in hindsight, but it was the right pick at the time.
  9. The problem is that it isn't just a vote on whether to choose the accused pedo or not. There are some issues on the table that are very important for voters and it goes beyond the candidates themselves. If someone is pro-life... then they can't vote for the Democrat, thus need to vote for the accused pedophile. Not because they support him.... just they support some issues. To put things into extremes.... who is better? The jail-bait enthusiast or the unborn baby killing supporter?
  10. Daniel Shaver: Police officer not guilty of murder

They should make a rule that you can't just simply retire until all matters has been resolved. You can still stop working, but pension can be revoked and liability can still be placed.
  11. A public bond offering would be a better idea IMO. Have the Flames offer like 250,000 x $1000 bonds paying like 1-2% or something, non-coupon, non-redeemable, maturing in like 25 years. Backed in good faith by the City of Calgary or something. You'd have tons of people lining up for it. Shares of the Green Bay Packers are extremely popular, so similar interest will probably be there. Rabid fans would pay to get a stakeholders interest in the Flames, the city could probably sink some money in, as well as any investor big or small. In return, the Flames get a big chunk of money at a very good rate to put towards a new stadium. Great PR and stuff too.
  12. I hope this isn't indication of Liberals winning again next election. Trudeau is a total joke.... unfortunately, it's nothing a nice photo-op or fancy socks can't solve.

While the season is still far from over.... I admit that I'm totally off about Gagne. I predicted that he would be close to PPG and playing alongside Horvat and Baertschi. A player in his prime, clean sheet, and the possibility of playing with many skilled players.... just nothing seemed to materialize for him. The effort is usually there..... but he just seems off.
