  1. Alex Edler out 4-6 weeks, Derek Pouliot draws in. Did you know that only one Canucks d-man played all 82 games last year?
  2. Matt Brassard | D

Scouting: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=268659 Vancouver's 7th round pick. 18 year old D-man playing for Oshawa this year. 6'2" and 201 pounds.

  4. Jack Rathbone | D

Scouting: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=311766 Our first D in the draft. The kid comes in at the Pettersen class weight and comes in an inch higher than Subban. I hear the knock on the kid is consistency.
  5. Jalen Chatfield | D

The Canucks newest signing from today, an overage defenseman out of Windsor. His offensive numbers aren't dazzling for his age but by all reports he sounds like a mobile player who can move the puck well and you'd have to think there's a lot to his game we don't know about if the Canucks were willing to offer him an ELC. Plus, Windsor hosts the Memorial Cup this season so he'll gain some valuable experience there and we'll all get a chance to see him play which is nice. There should be a lot of competition for spots on defense in Utica next season, as Chatfield will be up against guys like Brisebois, Neill, and Olson who could all potentially turn pro. 13. Ashton Sautner | D

http://www.thestarphoenix.com/Defenceman+Sautner+signs+with+Canucks/10888347/story.html Saskatchewan native and Edmonton Oil Kings captain Ashton Sautner has signed his NHL entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks, according to his agent. The Flaxcombe product’s signature was barely dry on the three-year deal when he faxed over the papers to his agent, Jeff Helperl, before heading to his latest WHL game. “It’s so exciting,” Sautner said in a brief phone interview before his Oil Kings took on the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday. “I can’t thank my friends and family enough for all of their support over the years.” Sautner is enjoying his best offensive WHL season. The undrafted 20-year-old was 12th in scoring among blue-liners heading into Friday’s action with 48 points.
  14. Nikita Tryamkin Scouting Report From one of the smallest players in the draft class to one of the biggest. He was 4th among regular defensemen on his team in ice time, with 16:30 per game on Yekaterinburg at just 19. Despite his size he can actually move pretty well. He's not afraid to play the body at all and has a cannon for a slapshot. As with any defender at this age he still needs refinement in his positioning and decision making, but he has a really high upside. Played internationally for the first time ever at WJC and was the Russian's second best defender after former first rounder Nikita Zadorov. Vancouver Canucks ‏@VanCanucks 18m Tryamkin said he wants to be "the next big Russian in Vancouver." He's got two years left on his KHL contract. #NHLDraft First Russian selected by Vancouver since Ilya Kablukov in 2007.
  15. Evan McEneny | D

So the Canucks signed McEneny today as an undrafted free agent. Looks like he had 2 points in as many games last season before a knee injury took him out. Seems to be a Boom/Bust potential guy and I, for one, am very content with this signing!
