I've never said Holland are a favourite for a World Cup not even the upcoming Euro cup, and I'm the first one to say they underachieve. I've also been critical of their recent run of results and form.

never said you were, i was more just pointing out history's limited importance. history matters, but there are a lot more important factors in the equation... so, by curiosity, please do tell what you think gives liverpool a certain win against, arguably, europe's strongest team at the moment?

Hmm....anybody else here watching the North London derby right now? I give the edge to the Yids in the first half, plenty of chances, lots of buzz in the Arsenal end, the Gooner defenders were all over the pitch trying to chase down the Yids instead of marking up.

I desperately wanted to watch that game but it was on too early. Good on ya for getting up, unless you got to watch it on delay. What a heartbreaking finish for me. We haven't beat those damn Gooners for 8 years. Keane stoned on a PK and yet ANOTHER late game lapse on a set play. Sigh. We better get some help on the backline in January.

Re: Uefa Cup and a Spurs favorable draw. If we advance and PSV Eindhoven presumably advance they'd be matched up. That'd be a tough and entertaining draw.

Probably doesn't matter what I say, because it'll get shot down regardless, but in the spirit of the holidays I'll give you my two cents.

Liverpool have very up and down this year. When they're on their game they're beating Besiktas 8-0, but when they're off it they're losing to Reading. Liverpool show in the CL that when qualification is on the line they can come through, they showed that in the group stage. 16 goals for and 1 against in their last 3 games in the CL. I realize Besiktas, Marseille and FC Porto aren't Inter Milan, but those wins are impressive none the less. I'm by no means saying Inter can't win, I just side with Pool. History may not mean anything, but Stevie G has shown in the past he can lead this team (many times weaker on paper than their opponents) to glory. That all being said, I believe Liverpool could still really use another center half.

celtic may have a reinforcement of henrik larsson and with their biggest legend the team can find strength, especially morally, to actually rock barca's star parade.

I haven't heard anything about Larsson going back to Celtic, and even in that unlikely scenario he would be ineligible to play in the Champions League due to his involvement in the UEFA Cup with Helsingborgs IF.

I highly doubt he'd leave his local team who have advanced to the knockout round of the UEFA Cup to play domestic football in Scotland.

his swedish team is falling apart, sacked the manager, big turbulence in the team, etc, both man ure and celtic has been approaching henrik. scotland on sunday wrote about henrik considering the end his days in celtic. what we do know is that he left sweden for cape verde to have a timeout and then after the holidays tell his future plans.

That penalty given up by Everton today was perhaps the stupidest penalty I have ever seen at that level.

There's no such thing as certain in sports.

I'm a biased Liverpool fan, so take it with a grain of salt, but certainly, Liverpool's pedigree in Europe is far greater than Inter's over the past three years. Liverpool have eliminated the likes of Barca, Milan, Juve and Chelsea (twice) during that time. Inter, on the other hand, have done little. In the end, its two matches, and anything can happen, but Rafa's squad has shown itself to be able to beat anyone in Europe, and often have, usually with inferior players. Liverpool trump Inter in the mental aspect of the game.

If I were a betting man, I'd say 51:49 odds on Liverpool.

inter has underachieved terribly in last year's CL, but last year ibrahimovic among other key players were playing injured, almost crippled, and in the tradition of pazza inter we often lose against weaker team (in theory) while make great games against playing class teams. we also have a great mental strength now (as shown in our derby win a few minutes ago) and when viera, figo and stankovic is back in january we will have even more depth offensive, as well as controlled lock options for defense, so my 51:49 is on inter.

As much as I said I'm not a fan of the Serie A, I wouldn't mind watching that Milan derby. Derbys between top sides are always good. I'm stuck watching Chelsea/ Blackburn

Looks like Tottenham have locked up another young Welsh defender, and this guy looks as promising as Bale.

Future is looking bright for your Spurs, Cooke.

I saw thought. I don't know a darn thing about him but if he's anywhere near as effective as Bale I'm very happy. Looks like Wales is set at full back for years to come.

I don't know much about him as well, but skysports named him into their emerging British 11.

Full-back Chris Gunter

Cardiff City's stopper picked up the Championship's Apprentice of the Year award in March and he has gone on to make his international debut since. The Welshman broke Graham Moore's 48-year record as the Bluebirds' youngest ever senior international at the end of last season and he has landed a move to join Tottenham Hotspur in January as a result.

I downloaded Wolves-Leicester, and Canada's Ian Hume scored a cracking free kick goal for the Foxes in a 1-1 draw.
