Totts 5 Fulham 1: Ledley King returns. Long live the King! This is going to be a good second half.

Shev has really picked up his game lately

With Lampard and Drogba both gone for a few weeks, it looks like the two huge signings of last year will need to shine. They are off to a good start

Obviously having a fit Naka would give Celtic an edge, but they did beat AC Milan without him.

The play now goes through McGeady, and it will be interesting to see what system is worked out on Naka's return, because McGeady has been pure class when given the responsibility.

I also think switching from Serie A to the Premiership had a fair bit to do with it.

hopefully him and Ballack can work some magic in the coming fixtures

mmm possibly but i dont think its the leagues that did it

think about it

in Milan sheva was a legend, on that team the mentality was "get the ball to sheva hel do the rest"
he barely ever even got subbed off

at chelsea nobody wanted him but the clubs owner
he is an outcast thats spent most of his time on the bench
he never even got a chance
he isnt a part of the team

guaranteed if he got a starting role off the bat he wouldnt of skipped a beat

but drogba is the man there and the mentality is "get the ball to didier and hel do the rest"

Wow, that's a stat to be proud of. I know that he's been prolific but I'm surprised that he's tops on that list. Robbie Keane, the most under rated striker in the BPL. All he does is score goals. Way to go Keaner.

Interesting that Benni McCarthy's on that list given his poor form this season. He obviously finished strong last year so perhaps he'll yet pick it up.

The BPL game has proven to be too fast for Sheva so far. No team play by the philosophy of we'll give it to ________ and he'll do the rest. Serie A is a slower build up that depends more on possession. Sheva excels on using just a little space to capatilise but in the BPL once he distributes a ball he's not necessarily going to see it back soon and in the meantime he's not going to find space effectively because he's not fast enough. This is where Drogba excels because he can win the ball, give to his support and then create space for himself to receive it again. I don't doubt that Sheva's got tons of skill (he still performs admirably for Ukraine) but unless Chelsea decides to play attacking football like they did against Aston Villa where they can draw defenders away from him then I doubt he'll ever have the same impact for Chelsea. Keep in mind that they gave up 5 goals as well.

In the meantime, bring the Ukrainian to MLS. I'd be happy to watch him rip the league up.

U_C, you seem to be quite critical of the decision to play Drogba over Shev.....personally I don't think any rational, neutral person would choose Shev over Drogba considering the success Chelsea has had when using him as their main man up front.

I felt sympathy for Shev....until I remembered how much he was getting paid.

Bottom line, on a team like Chelsea you can't walk in and expect a team to be built around you, you have to earn that right, and for me, Shev didn't do that.

im critical of sheva for leaving milan and going from legend to obscurity.

he could of solidified his status in the soccer world as one of the best to ever play

instead he took the money.........dammit sheva why did you leave milan, i hate being a chelsea fan!
i like being a milan fan way better

I don't blame him for taking on the challenge of the EPL, nor for taking the money.

But when you make a move like that, you've got to be prepared to get stuck in and fight for your place.

I think Shev just expected the team to be built around him and that just wasn't the case.

The whole thing was doomed from the beginning though, since it wasn't even Mourinho's idea to get him.

Sheva Sheva blah blah blah. Let's talk about a real striker. Berbatov scores 4 goals in the game of the season, Tottenham 6-Reading 4. Crazy crazy game. This is different then Reading's 7-4 loss to Portsmouth because they were never really in that game. At White Hart Lane, Reading led 3 seperate times. 8 goals were scored in 30 minutes. An absolutely mind blowing second half. So fun.

The captain of Motherwall has died at the age of 35. he collapsed on the field just before getting subbed off.

As high as you must be after that win, does the fact the Spurs gave up 4 goals to Reading concern you a lot? Tottenham are the EPL version of the 02/03 Canucks. Sublime up front, suspect at the back and poor goalkeeping. None the less, would have liked to see that match. Games like that are a lot of fun to watch.
