i can't believe zach hamill is that far down the list and not to mention angelo esposito

the talent in this years draft is very even

i wouldn't be suprised if someone ranked 12th goes in the 2nd round

this years draft is good and bad... there aren't any crosbys or ovechkins this year, but the talent is very even and spread out, and is very deep

it all depends on the teams needs too...

these ratings mean nothing.. ie. Grabner was rated to go in the 2nd round and we picked him at 14th overall?

true, good point

I would bet that Sutter will be NHL ready just because his father has him built for both ends of the ice. He wouldn't be a defensive liability as most 18-19 year olds.

Those Sutters breed like rabbits.

So does anyone have certain players tipped they'd (realistically) like to see the Canucks go after?

Sutter's sort of a no brainer. It would be nice to finally get that big center this franchise has never had (I hold that Linden's a converted RWer.)

There an article about Oscar Moller in the province today. He seems to be ahead of the curve as far as his development goes.

I see Vladimir Ruzicka's been re-incarnated. I hope he's a better player this time around.

Any one of Hamill(if he slips that far which I doubt), Sutter, Moller or Veilieux would be perfect. Watch Velilieux(sp) last night on Sportsnet, he's a beast on the ice as he hits very hard.

Smith called up. Why didn't they recall Moran or give a Hansen a shot?

I'm guessing it's for a 4th liner spot so there's your Moran answer, Hansen is just buried on the Moose right nw....

I don't post as much on him but from the one game I watched of him, I was impressed. Looking forward to seeing him in a nucks jersey sometime in the next few years.

Yeah it was only a matter of time before Smith got the call. Smith is a gritty player and was called up to step in for Santala. This is a good move IMO. It may have taken time but another Canuck draft pick has made it to the NHL.

I WANT Smith to prove us all wrong.

I wish him the best.

Anyways, yeah Grabner was ranked 29-36th in the ranking systems, but his torrid pace at the end of the year boosted his stock and it was rumored that Colorado was going to pick him just a few spots after us so we had to snatch him up.

I hope that Sutter is available.

But Veilliex, Anderson, or Moller would be excellent as well althought Molelr is a little on the small side...

I would love to get Moller with LA's second. But I would be very happy if we picked him if say, Sutter, Veilleux, Anderson etc. are taken.

Also does anybody have a good idea of what type of player Veilleux is? I mean I know he is a big guy at 6'5, but what kind of player is he? As we have seen with Chouinard this year, if you don't use your size to your advantage, it isn't much of a factor.

I'm happy about the new Draft system, if we bomb in the first round, we can get an >20 pick.
