Russian prospects contribute to postseason wins
The Russian Super League's postseason started with back-to-back games on Sunday and Monday, and most of the Canucks' Russian hopefuls contributed to their respective teams' wins.
Winger Sergei Shirokov was named first star of Game 1 after scoring a shorthander and also dishing out an assist in CSKA's 4-1 win over Togliatti. Shirokov had no point in the next game, which CSKA also won, 5-4.
Fellow winger Ilya Krikunov scored the game winner on the power play in Game 2 to help Khimik jump out to a 2-0 series lead over Severstal.
Center Artem Chubarov netted a power play goal in each of the first two games of Omsk's series against Chehov, and the former Canuck also was named first star of both contests.
Rearguard Kirill Koltsov has an assist in the series so far, as Omsk cruised to two easy wins, 5-1 and 5-0.
Winger Evgeny Gladskikh didn't figure in the scoring in both of Magnitogorsk's wins over Tver, and defender Denis Grot was scratched from both of Nizhnekamsk's losses against Novosibirsk.
