Ellis Called up to the Moose.

"The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced they recalled goaltender Julien Ellis from the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL.

Ellis, 21, has appeared in six games with the Moose so far in his first season of professional hockey. He has compiled a record of 0-6-0 with a goals against average of 3.71 and a save percentage of .885. He has also appeared in 34 games this year with the Salmon Kings where he is 18-14-2 with a 3.31 goals against average and a .910 save percentage and was named to the ECHL All-Star Game.

Ellis was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks with their sixth choice, 189th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Yeah even though this is a good opportunity for Ellis I feel bad for Flats. He really is a major part of that team and his years as an AHL goalie are limited. If the Moose end up winning the Calder Cup (which they have a great chance at) it would be too bad that an injury kept Flats from being a part of it.

That is a fantastic mask. Is that Flaherty or Ellis?

Has Ellis dropped the -Plante? Maybe he should keep it and try to channel Jaques.

Cry me a river.

I understand what he had given to the Moose organization, but it's really time for him to retire.

Oh yeah you're right he should retire, I mean 17-9 is a horrible record. Much worse than Ellis' 0-6 record.

Oh, and if you payed attention to that team prior to this season you would know just how incredible Flaherty is during the playoffs and what a HUGE blow that is to the team.

Not only that but it's completely classless to celebrate someone's injury. Just so that a so so prospect can get some important playing (or not) which they would probably get the next year if Ellis earned it.

Flats hasn't been the same ever since he was sent back to the Moose right before the season started. He's been outplayed by Drew

I'm not saying Ellis is better then Flats..... my point is that, at 39 years old?, it's time for him to call it a career, and give the young guns some time to develop.

That stat honestly takes me aback. In the few Moose games I've actually been able to watch (mostly on the NHL Network) I was extremely impressed with Flats. I thought he looked dominant in those games. It just really surprises me.

I'm with Breeze on this one, Flaherty is the reason Alex Vincent is on the IR and Julien Ellis isnt being given the proper chance he deserves

My point isn't that his stats are poor, but you guys make it out to me a huge lose for the Moose. I doubt Arniel would rotate the goalies in the playoffs, and obviously D-mac has been the better player.....ALL YEAR LONG. Plus, he's 15 years younger then Flats.

Anyways, The Moose are D-Mac's team now. They will live and die with him.

I would rather have a goalie who can put up some wins and get the team a playoff birth than trying to develope a younger goalie who we don't really need in the first place. Don't you think the skaters would benefit more from having a solid goalie behind them? Better +/-, better morale, it means they get to play in the playoffs. Flaherty has never been incredible during the regular season (still good mind you), but he's always been fantastic during the playoffs, just you wait.

Oh, and need I remind you of Johnny Bower who became made it to the NHL at the age of 35 won 4 Stanley Cups and two Vezina Trophys, and only retired at the age of 45? Age isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Who says Ellis isn't as good as Flats?, we don't know because he hasn't honestly had the opportunity to prove himself. A better +/-?
LMAO, I highly doubt the Players would have a huge burst of confidence all of a sudden if they went from a -5 to +5 Maybe you should teach a player how to play defence instead.

Will considering he is pretty much done for the year, and now the rumours of Cory Schneider turning Pro, I highly doubt they would keep a 40 year old average, injury prone goalie around. Especially since D-mac has proven himself that he CAN be a starter.
