SCHNEIDER EXPECTED TO TURN PRO

VictoriaTimes said:

The wildcard is Cory Schneider, the highly-touted American goaltender the Canucks drafted 26th overall in the first round in 2004.

Schneider, a college senior, is expected to turn pro and join either Manitoba or Victoria immediately after his NCAA career ends this spring with Hockey East-champion Boston College.

The Eagles could be eliminated as early as this weekend in the NCAA Northeast regionals, or not until after the 2007 Frozen Four semifinals April 5 or final April 7 in St. Louis.

"There are a lot of variables at play, including Schneider, in this [Manitoba-Victoria goaltending] situation," said Belisle.

So ummm.... facts checker?

He's a college junior.

Absolutely no quote specifying that he will turn pro, only some guy saying there's variables.

It is very unlikely that he will turn pro before the semester ends. Especially since BC is a favourite to be in the Frozen Four which would only leave a few weeks of school left at most. (unless they have a different timeframe for semesters there.)

Yeah there was been speculation about this for months. Nothing has been confirmed so this is not really news. Schneider has been a variable in the Moose/Kings goaltending situation since the beginning of the season.

Raymond is NOT playing tonight for the Moose. Moose radio say he will be in the lineup this week for sure. Moose play again tomorrow so he may be in the lineup then.

Vincent;s been activated.

Lets hope he can get at least ONE chance to up-stage Bridges. As much as i respect Bridges (he may be a good backup one day) Vincent needs to play, its pivotal to his future, and his future is NOW.

I would guess they want him to have more than one practice with the team to know the new system he's going to play in. They play 4 games this week.

Thanks to mr7 for the sig

Hansen with goal for the Moose. He's playing on a line with Smith and Schultz now as Genoway left the game after getting hit with a puck I believe.

Hansen-Smith-Schultz seems like a decent line. Must be better than being on the fourth line i guess.
Proud Cody Hodgson fan since 2007.

YES. Hansen is doing very well in the last 2-3 games.

Too bad Raymond wasn't in.

]

Ellis Called up to the Moose.

"The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced they recalled goaltender Julien Ellis from the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL.

Ellis, 21, has appeared in six games with the Moose so far in his first season of professional hockey. He has compiled a record of 0-6-0 with a goals against average of 3.71 and a save percentage of .885. He has also appeared in 34 games this year with the Salmon Kings where he is 18-14-2 with a 3.31 goals against average and a .910 save percentage and was named to the ECHL All-Star Game.

Ellis was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks with their sixth choice, 189th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
"

Flats gone 6-8 Weeks with an MCL tear......

Boy do I gotta hold back the tears on that.....

Dude ... You dissing Flaherty?

Maybe you should just leave.
Cry me a river.

I understand what he had given to the Moose organization, but it's really time for him to retire.
Oh yeah you're right he should retire, I mean 17-9 is a horrible record. Much worse than Ellis' 0-6 record.

Oh, and if you payed attention to that team prior to this season you would know just how incredible Flaherty is during the playoffs and what a HUGE blow that is to the team.
Flats hasn't been the same ever since he was sent back to the Moose right before the season started. He's been outplayed by Drew

D-MAC

2.16GAA with a 925 SV%

Flats

2.42GAA 909 SV%

I'm not saying Ellis is better then Flats..... my point is that, at 39 years old?, it's time for him to call it a career, and give the young guns some time to develop.
I would rather have a goalie who can put up some wins and get the team a playoff birth than trying to develope a younger goalie who we don't really need in the first place. Don't you think the skaters would benefit more from having a solid goalie behind them? Better +/-, better morale, it means they get to play in the playoffs. Flaherty has never been incredible during the regular season (still good mind you), but he's always been fantastic during the playoffs, just you wait.

Oh, and need I remind you of Johnny Bower who became made it to the NHL at the age of 35 won 4 Stanley Cups and two Vezina Trophys, and only retired at the age of 45? Age isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Are you forgetting that the Moose are the Development Team for the Canucks and not their Retirement Home. It is nice to see some of the old farts like Flats play, but the priority is the development of the Young Players. If you want to watch a Senior league go for it, but that is not what the Moose is there for. The sooner you get those facts straight the better off we all are.
The Moose are not a developement team. They do develope players, but that's not their priority. Their priority is to win.

And come on man? You'd rather see a younger player lose than an older player win? Because that's basically what you just said. Younger doesn't always mean better. Look at Lidstrom, Jagr, Selanne, Sakic, Brind'amour, Brodeur. Those are all older players who are much better than a lot of younger players, should they retire? Why should a player be forced into retirement when he's doing well? That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard of.
Where did I say that a player is forced to retire. Do not put adjectives into what I wrote. The priority of the Moose is to Develop the young talent that the Cauck draft along with some experienced players for short term call ups. That is what the Moose are there for, and yes winning is also nice, but the priority should never be to play the old players while the draft picks sit in the press box or at the end of the bench.

Ellis would be the perfect backup for Luongo when he reaches his potential. Thats just my opinion.
