I am not a Grabner hater, but it would be sad to see IF Grabner pull himself out of a game because dion phuenf give him a big hit

I hope he learn from that mistake.

He didn't actually literally pull himself out of the game. His coach pulled him out of the game because Grabner wasn't playing like he should have been.

ok, and sorry for my bad english

youneedhockey101, you still dislike Grabner?.

lets just hope he continue to play well -captain obvious

and no, i never dislike Grabner

The whole "Pulled himself out of the game" was just a lie perpetuated by PocoCanucks or w/e his name is.

Grabners Coach though he was not playing physical enough and did not have the proper motivation so he benched him, the province did the typical negative spin that papers usually do, and voula! everyone thinks he is a * . . .
Not to mention that Nonis came down on the side of the player calling the move by the coach a "mistake" in an interview with team1040.

One goal and one assist behind his last season totals for Grabner. Anyone know how many games left in the WHL season for Spokane? it ends sooner than the NHL doesn't it?

I wonder if he can take 3rd or even 2nd spot in goal scoring before the end...

Spokane has 10 regular season games left. The season will end on 3/18. They play Prince George, Kootenay, Chilliwack, Portland (3 times), Everett (twice), Tri City (twice).

Some numbers for you, in case you wanted to know.

2005-2006 67gp, 36g, 14a, 50pts, -2, 28pim (2 hat tricks, 6 two goal games)

2006-2007 48gp, 35g, 13a, 48pts, +4, 32pim (4 hat tricks, 6 two goal games)

Granted yes, at times he seems invisible on the ice unless it's a breakaway. But I've seen improvement in his overall game the last few games. Last night he was along the boards fighting for the puck, bumping other players, moving around nicely. BTW I'm a season ticket holder so yes, I've seen alot of games. :D

I think the benching and public comments kicked him in the donkey. He has stated that he's getting back to his kind of game and not letting the frustration and pressure get to him. You can see it when the goalie makes a great save on him the disappointment on Grabby's face. Saw it a couple times last night.

I think with experience in the AHL the Nucks will have a great player. I have faith. You'll enjoy. :)

I actually like to see he had more Hatties last year, tha means he's scored goals more consistently this year, i;d rather have 3 goals in 3 games then 1 hattie, and then no goals in 3 games

Northern Michigan University Head Coach Walt Kyle, responding to my e-mail on Matt Butcher:

Matt has had a very good freshman season. It is difficult to come out of Jr. and impact the game offensively and each freshman is ready at a different time. Matt has a great work ethic and is getting better day by day and each game is creating more and more chances, lately he has really had tough luck around the net and has created many great opportunities for himself and his teammates.

Matt’s best years are ahead of him, the Canucks have a solid and committed prospect. Matt’s role here will expand next year and we project his numbers to increase significantly.

Thats pretty cool that you got the actually coach to respond. As for his role increasing as his years go on, that is my thought exactly. He will definitely be a "long term" prospect though. Most likely spending the whole 4 years in the NCAA, and another 2 or so in the AHL if he ever gets a shot at the NHL.

Yeah, the only thing i focused on in his response was how he described him as a hard working, commited prospect, and next to potential/ability thats the #1 characteristic you want, the kid needs to be commited to improving himself if he isnt a Grabner

It's nice that he lights it up in 2nd halfs of the season too. Nine goals in four games since the public thrashing = one big STFU to the coach. Love it.

Slapyourself if you think Kesler will score 25+ goals, he just doesn't have the offensive skill.

Crappy week for Grabner...

Posted Image

Michael Grabner, Spokane Chiefs: Feb 12 - Feb 18
Created: Feb 20, 2007
Calgary - The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is forward Michael Grabner of the Spokane Chiefs.

Grabner earned player of the week honours by recording six goals in three games during the week of February 12th to February 18th, helping Spokane to a 1-1-1 record in that span.

On Wednesday, February 14th, Grabner notched two goals, including the shorthanded game-winner, in a 4-3 victory over the Blazers in Kamloops. He was also named the game's 1st star.

On Friday, February 16th, Grabner scored a hat trick, including two power play goals, as the Chiefs dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to the Thunderbirds in Seattle. He was also named the game's 1st star.

On Saturday, February 17th, Grabner scored one goal - a power play marker - as the Chiefs fell 6-3 to the Kootenay Ice in Spokane.

Grabner, a 19-year-old product of Villach, Austria, was the Vancouver Canucks' 1st round pick (14th overall) at the 2006 NHL draft.

The WHL has also nominated Carey Price of the Tri-City Americans for the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week award.
