Even up I would take a player out of the WHL without fail.

A challenge that Euros are faced with is the intensity of NHL play and the simple duration of the season. To be fair can anyone deny that Daniel Alfredson is not the same player he was 5 years ago. He has overcome where many others have not. I can pick far more NA players, particularly Canadian, who have picked their teams up and led them to Stanley. Classics are Gretzky, Stevie Y, Orr, Geo Armstrong, Tim Horton, and Guy Lafleur. The list goes on. Canada's dominance at World Juniors speaks for itself.

When it comes to the draft Van has to continue their rebuilding up the middle by drafting big centermen. I prefer they be hardnosed Canadian kids who understand the game. IMO you draft there because it is the core of your forward squad and probably where your leadership will come from. The wing positions can be supplimented by free agency or trades. NHL youth movements are leaving some pretty decent wingers looking for a home.

This is probably sounding pretty anti-Euro and maybe it is a little bit. Some of the most talented players over the past 20 years have been European, no argument. But I will argue until midnight that the best hockey players in the world are Canadian. I would take odds that if the core of my team is Canadian it will win! :P

I’m not really Anti-Euro, but I would like us to draft a big Canadian center man, or at least a center man that has played the North American game for at least a year. Preferably MacMillan or Sutter, and trust me, I know that Calgary’s probably going to draft him, but I can wish, can’t I?

what kissing up to me? :P
It was a jole earlier that Nonis should draft Turris. IF you had read my earlier posts yesterday...

You know what is nice about drafting a guy like MacMillan is you know he's at least going to have a good line mate next year(He plays with Voracek). The toughest part of the questions that surround Grabner and his play this year were they cause because a lack of him getting open or the lack of quality linemates? Nobody hopefully judges him based on the fact he's not playing for the Moose right now because the back log of players in the press box is huge on that team.

The only reason why I'd like to see a bunch of Canadians drafted in this years draft is the fact we are short on them, adding Canadian prospects would actually add diversity to our list. We've drafted a lot of Euros in the past few drafts. The best teams in the NHL have a solid diversity. Obviously though as long as the Canucks go with the best player available approach none of us will be unhappy.

Yeah we need someone to fill Linden's shoes cause he's gonna retire soon.
We need a Swede to fill Naslund's shoes (I think)

The right Euro/Canadian combo is what this team needs. If someone says the Sedins are soft I'd like to see them go into the corners against the top D pairing of any NHL team night in night out. That isn't soft hockey. We need more size skill combo up front is our real problem, not taking anything from Pyatt but someone his size with more consistency would be nice. I've never had a problem with our 3rd and 4th lines, especially when healthy Kesler and Cooke add a lot of pop. Anyways back to prospects, or furture prospects should I say, imagine this future line combo:

Raymond Veillieux(6'5)Sutter(6'2.5) Grabner a size,speed, skill line

I think for the most part the anti Euro sentiment comes specifically from the Europeans on the Canucks. None of them have particularly stepped up and there are high profile contrasts such as captain Naslund really struggling (according to most) where as the people's captain  Linden has stepped up his game.

 You seem to forget what nationality assisted on Linden's "tip in" and which ones scored the game tying goal. Without the GTG and without those assist, Linden's tip-in is non-existant. Not to mention, you seem to forget whose lines those penalties were drawn on to even get the powerplay. Hint: They were both drawn by different lines with 2 Europeans and 1 Canadian, both lines were putting pressure on Dallas, and both penalties were drawn by 2 different Europeans. Shocking as it may seem, the Europeans were actually putting pressure in Game 7 enough to draw penalties from a normally disciplined Dallas team.

C'mon Luc! Just 1 more game to own your old team. Same with Giants. And Moose!!!

Anyone read this article on Mario Bliznak and Evan Fuller on Canucks' main page?

Worth Posting.......

http://slam.canoe.ca...134725-sun.html

Quote

NICE START: Newcomer Daniel Rahimi played his second game with the Moose (and playoff debut) on Wednesday night and though he didn't see much ice time in the third period, Arniel was happy with the Swedish blue-liners performance.

"For a guy that was thrown into a pressure situation and having just one game under his belt, I thought he played pretty well," said Arniel. "He did a lot of good things. As he gets more comfortable, especially to the size of these rinks here -- that's a big adjustment (from playing in Sweden) -- he'll continue to excel.

"With (Alex) Edler being out, we need him to step up and log some minutes for us."

I want our prospects to come up so we can disperse with the riff-raff
replace: Buils with Grabner/Raymond
Sopel, Fitz with Bourdon, Edler
We save $ on that B)

Players aren't getting paid in the playoffs unless they have bonus signings to their contracts.

Our rookies aren't even ready if they aren't even that great in the AHL

Doesn't Bourdon lose one year as a RFA if he plays in the playoffs with us?

No Bourdon or any of our rookies would not lose ANY form of eligibility, doesnt affect RFA, UFA, Calder Eligibility in the playoffs.
