I wasn't commenting on my own opinions, more so where I think the anti Euro sentiment is. I do believe that it does make a little difference that a Canadian kid grows up wanting the Stanley Cup more then anything else where as a Euro grows up dreaming of the World Championship or Olympics. I also think that in the case of someone like Naslund or Alfreddson that drive for lord Stanley is developed by the years of failure and frustration and seeing what kind of reaction that garners from the fans.
Linden to Naslund was simply an example of what the fans focus on. I won't disagree that Linden has been able to turn it up at the most important times where as Naslund is working hard but not making a big impact when we need him. Linden is unquestionably a strong playoff player.
You'll note that I stated that I think we should go after the best player available in the draft. Irregardless of nationality, or even position.

Normally I wouldn't choose a center over a RWer whom I thought was better simply because of a perceived need though.

GRABNER!!!
Really no he is the 2nd best goalie prospect in the world (+/- 1 or 2)
We need to draft good this year and get a scorer, not Naslund, Lecalvlier caliber but someone who can chip in

hes always calm and cool
hes playing solid, like hes done this all before
hes really surprising me, i would like to see him on the team for the rest of the playoffs
and hopefully he can get a roster spot next year on the team
I think he can handle it, and will flourish next year, what a guy

Malkin. Semin. Ovechkin. Kovalchuk.

Chicago
SMOLINSKI
Picks -- One in first round (first overall). Two in second round (unless Los Angeles chooses to use Vancouver’s pick obtained in trade for Bryan Smolinski, then the pick would be in 2008). One in third, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds.
Which means that we are giving away our 2nd this year and in 2008, meaning we still have the LA 2nd and ANA 2nd (or at least I think thats what it means)

How can Los Angeles get their pick back?

We traded for Sopel; and I believe the conditional was either a 2nd this year or a second next year. I'm guessing the conditional for Smolinski was our remaining second rounder; whichever one was Los Angelas didn't want to take.

I know that the Canucks have LA's 2nd round pick for THIS year. Do we have a 2008 2nd round pick?

Well Nonis has gone on the record saying WE HAVE 2 picks in the first two round, and that the 2nd round pick is an early one.... which must be LA's pick.
