i am really liking the way Edler is playing

hes always calm and cool
hes playing solid, like hes done this all before

hes really surprising me, i would like to see him on the team for the rest of the playoffs

and hopefully he can get a roster spot next year on the team
I think he can handle it, and will flourish next year, what a guy

Malkin. Semin. Ovechkin. Kovalchuk.
RIP Alexei Cherepanov and Michael Jackson

From NHL.com

Chicago

SMOLINSKI
Picks -- One in first round (first overall). Two in second round (unless Los Angeles chooses to use Vancouver’s pick obtained in trade for Bryan Smolinski, then the pick would be in 2008). One in third, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds.

Which means that we are giving away our 2nd this year and in 2008, meaning we still have the LA 2nd and ANA 2nd (or at least I think thats what it means)

Well let's be sure to beat Aneheim so that pick is a little better. ;)

Like there isn't enough motivation.

How can Los Angeles get their pick back?

We traded for Sopel; and I believe the conditional was either a 2nd this year or a second next year. I'm guessing the conditional for Smolinski was our remaining second rounder; whichever one was Los Angelas didn't want to take.

I know that the Canucks have LA's 2nd round pick for THIS year. Do we have a 2008 2nd round pick?

I don't think so. It's either LA or Chicago who gets that pick.

i'm really hoping that we get a chance to draft lars eller, but do you guys think that he'll still be around when our turn to select comes? his stock may have risen with the cbs' final rankings, ranking him the 3rd best european skater.

Well Nonis has gone on the record saying WE HAVE 2 picks in the first two round, and that the 2nd round pick is an early one.... which must be LA's pick.

Just basing it on what timw33 posted :3 about Chicago's picks... Quite honestly, I don't honestly know either since the trade deadline just muddled things up, especially since both draft picks were "conditional".

With drafting, doesn't it go:

First round: 1st seed, 2nd seed, 3rd seed ... 29th seed, 30th seed.

Second round: 30th seed, 29th seed, 28th seed ... etc.

So wouldn't LA's first round pick be 4th, but their second round pick be like 56th?

So really having LA's second round pick isn't all that big of a deal ...

I thought they just cycled through it? Like same team rankings in all rounds...

We HAVE L.A's 2nd rounder (34th overall) and either ours or Anahiem's 2nd rounder (whoever has lower pick). We gave up one of our 2nd rounders to Chicago (conditional-they get the higher pick out of Anahiem's or our 2nd rounder depending on who gets knocked of playoffs first) and we traded our 2008 2nd rounder to L.A.

I dunno if this has been discussed

But are there any updates on whether Koltsov will be coming over next year

I know there's that quote from his interview, about him saying he's coming over to NA next year

But any recent updates?

I think Rinslet answered this I just didn't understand his wording.

The order stays the same. So, hypothetically if Philadelphia has the 1st pick over all then they'll also have the 31st pick overall or the 1st pick of the 2nd round. Therefore LA's 2nd rounder is a nice one to have.

well lets say we win the cup.

then we'd get the 30th and 31st pick while chicago, which f****** sucks, gets the 1st and 60th.

in a deep draft (which most usually are), being the s***tiest team doesnt really have its advantages.

it makes perfect sense the way it is now.

we do it in hockey pools because everyone is starting out from scratch.

Doesnt work that way anymore. If we win the cup, we will have the 30th and 60th pick.

I was going to make a thread about Krajicek, but w/e I'll just talk about him here.

This season, we have seen Lukas go from limited minutes to something like 32 minutes played in game 2. Sure it was because of injuries, but he has obviously shown to the coaching staff that he is trustworthy, as he is never scratched. Think about this, if the Canucks lose three straight, which in most likelihood won't happen, he'll have played at least 12 playoff games this season. He has had spurts where he's looked like Lidstrom, but he's also had his bad days.

If Krajicek continues to get better, Vancouver will have a defence to be reckoned with next season. It looks like with a bit more work, Krajicek can in one or two seasons, be a solid 25 minute per game d-man.

I know LA does some stupid things like trade for Cloutier and sign him to an extension but they've got to know the 2008 draft is already hyped as being a good one. I can't see them taking this years draft unless they think there is someone they really want still available.
