Well Nonis has gone on the record saying WE HAVE 2 picks in the first two round, and that the 2nd round pick is an early one.... which must be LA's pick.

Just basing it on what timw33 posted :3 about Chicago's picks... Quite honestly, I don't honestly know either since the trade deadline just muddled things up, especially since both draft picks were "conditional".

With drafting, doesn't it go:

First round: 1st seed, 2nd seed, 3rd seed ... 29th seed, 30th seed.

Second round: 30th seed, 29th seed, 28th seed ... etc.

So wouldn't LA's first round pick be 4th, but their second round pick be like 56th?

So really having LA's second round pick isn't all that big of a deal ...

I thought they just cycled through it? Like same team rankings in all rounds...

We HAVE L.A's 2nd rounder (34th overall) and either ours or Anahiem's 2nd rounder (whoever has lower pick). We gave up one of our 2nd rounders to Chicago (conditional-they get the higher pick out of Anahiem's or our 2nd rounder depending on who gets knocked of playoffs first) and we traded our 2008 2nd rounder to L.A.

I dunno if this has been discussed

But are there any updates on whether Koltsov will be coming over next year

I know there's that quote from his interview, about him saying he's coming over to NA next year

But any recent updates?

I think Rinslet answered this I just didn't understand his wording.

The order stays the same. So, hypothetically if Philadelphia has the 1st pick over all then they'll also have the 31st pick overall or the 1st pick of the 2nd round. Therefore LA's 2nd rounder is a nice one to have.

well lets say we win the cup.

then we'd get the 30th and 31st pick while chicago, which f****** sucks, gets the 1st and 60th.

in a deep draft (which most usually are), being the s***tiest team doesnt really have its advantages.

it makes perfect sense the way it is now.

we do it in hockey pools because everyone is starting out from scratch.

Doesnt work that way anymore. If we win the cup, we will have the 30th and 60th pick.

I was going to make a thread about Krajicek, but w/e I'll just talk about him here.

This season, we have seen Lukas go from limited minutes to something like 32 minutes played in game 2. Sure it was because of injuries, but he has obviously shown to the coaching staff that he is trustworthy, as he is never scratched. Think about this, if the Canucks lose three straight, which in most likelihood won't happen, he'll have played at least 12 playoff games this season. He has had spurts where he's looked like Lidstrom, but he's also had his bad days.

If Krajicek continues to get better, Vancouver will have a defence to be reckoned with next season. It looks like with a bit more work, Krajicek can in one or two seasons, be a solid 25 minute per game d-man.

I know LA does some stupid things like trade for Cloutier and sign him to an extension but they've got to know the 2008 draft is already hyped as being a good one. I can't see them taking this years draft unless they think there is someone they really want still available.

Amazing what prospect and team depth does for a team. Bourdon, Rahimi, Edler waiting to step in next year and the year after. Possibly the return of Koltsov. They'll be a stronger D core next year too. One full season together + playoffs can only create further chemistry.

Prospect Games for Sunday:

Grand Rapids @ Moose (Raymond, Grabner, Rahimi & Friends)
Grand Rapids lead series 3-2
Note: Yannick Tremblay has been called up from the Moose. Gotta feel bad for them after being the favourites to win the calder cup, and now half of their players are in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Their top 2 D-man are out, as well as 2 of their top 6 forwards.... ouch.
Game #6
Moose Reg. Season Points: 102
Grand Rapids Reg. Season Points: 85
Game can be watched online for around $6 at http://www.b2livetv....terschedule.asp
NOTE:
Edler out
Tremblay out
Hansen out
Smith out

Disney Land @ Nucks
Game #3.... :
The Great Dane "Hansen"
Posted Image

Ohlund's Twin who is better then Fitz, Sopel and Trembley....AKA "Edler".

Note: I swear if Edler players with Trembley, someone is coming to pay.

Let's just hope Salo returns I could't handle Tremblay in the line-up he scares me enough in the reg season let alone the playoffs. Maybe if we dressed 7 D and he was a PP specialist would I be ok with him in. Common Sami be our savior.

Alex Edler article from Sportsnet.ca

"VANCOUVER (CP) -- You could call Alexander Edler an overachiever.

At the start of the season the Swedish defenceman's goal was to earn a job with the the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. Now the 21-year-old from Ostersund is taking a regular shift for the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs.

Not bad for someone who just last spring was playing for the Kelowna Rockets in the Western Hockey League playoffs.

"I didn't have any expectations of playing in the NHL coming into this season," the soft spoken Edler said prior to the Canucks playing the Anaheim Ducks in Sunday's Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinal. "My first goal was taking a spot with the Moose.

"I got called up and played pretty good. Here I am in the playoffs. It's great."

Injuries to veterans Kevin Bieksa and Sami Salo forced the Canucks to dip into their farm team talent. So far, coach Alain Vigneault has been impressed with Edler and Jannik Hansen, another rookie pressed into serve because of an injury to forward Matt Cooke.

"Sometimes players get opportunities," said Vigneault. "They are making the best of it.

"Their contributions are important to our team and our success. I think we needed that from those guys."

The six-foot-three, 220-pound Edler played 49 regular season games with the Moose this season, collecting 26 points and 28 penalty minutes. He also appeared in three playoff games.

During the season Edler played 22 games for the Canucks, where he had one goal and two assists. Veteran defenceman Mattias Ohlund said Edler got better each time he played in Vancouver.

"Every time he comes up he's very calm," Ohlund said as he taped one of his sticks for Sunday's game. "Most times he's been up for us he continues to make strides and get better."

It's one thing to be called up for a game in February. There's a lot more pressure when you are thrown into the second round of the playoffs.

"Of course it's different than the regular season," Edler said. "I was probably more excited than nervous."

In his first two games against the Ducks Edler averaged just over 14 minutes of ice time. He wasn't spectacular but also didn't look out of place.

Edler was just 16 when he played his first professional hockey in Sweden..

The Canucks took Edler 91st overall in the 2004 draft after he had flown under the radar of most teams. The only reason Canucks scout Thomas Gradin saw Edler play was because of a telephone call from a friend who suggested he should come and watch the youngster in action.

Edler spent the 2005-06 season with the Rockets. He had 13 goals and 40 assists in 62 regular season games, then added three goals and eight points in 12 playoff games.

Big and offensively talented, one of the knocks against Edler was he didn't play physical enough. He thinks his year in the WHL changed that.

"The transition is pretty big," said Edler. "It took a while before I came into the style of hockey here. It's more intense, faster, more physical."

Besides the hockey, Edler, who was 19 at the time, also had to adapt to a new lifestyle in a different country.

"It was hard in the beginning," he said. "I was homesick and stuff. After a while it got better.

"I got into everything, the food and everything around, not just the hockey. This year I feel much better. I feel more at home."

They always say Edler is 220, but he's more like 200.

Can't wait until he's 220 though.

The ONLY draft that was snake (1st,31st/30th, 60th) was the one after the lockout because there was no champion, division winners, or standings to determine the positioning.

It is regular once again.
