Bourdon
Grabner
I think Hansen has a greater shot than Grabner. Hansen has done everything right but score so far. That's asking a lot of a rookie in the playoffs. Though he's been oh so very close

Out of pure economical sense Hansen could fill Bulis void thus freeing up more money for a top 6 forward. We can fill the bottom 6 without a problem. We need someone better than Pyatt on the top line.

The only way those guys get dressed is if 4 of our top guys get hurt.
I don't think the Canucks are particularly concerned about the effects of the call ups on the Moose. All moves are made with the Canucks in mind at this point in the year imo.
Regarding Arniel: He has been lauded as an important part of developing Buffalo's never ending fleet of talented forwards so I think I'll trust his decision making regarding our prospects. They are just kids, no sense throwing them into the fire.
I don't think you understood me correctly. I said Bourdon and Rahimi would help the Moose, not the Canucks, in the likely case Bieksa re-injures his ribs/foot, Sami "Glass" Salo goes down again or one of Mitchell/Ohlund keeps getting destroyed by 230lb bodychecks. By having two "new" skilled defensemen, Bourdon & Rahimi, the Moose don't suffer as much when we recall Tremblay and Edler.

I think Hansen is gonna be a full time player for canucks
if Koltsov shows up, there is no doubt in my mind that he WILL be on the team

Malkin. Semin. Ovechkin. Kovalchuk.

Here's my thoughts on Simek...
This was his first year playing in NA. He played (stats wise), WAY BETTER above what Canuck staff could have imagined. Afterall, he is just a "kid" and Simek is in his first year LIVING in NA, and had to adapt to a whole new culture at only 19 years old. He ended up playing in the WJC, almost 60 WHL games, and 2 rounds of playoffs in the whl. Simek did finish the season appearing to have a few injury problems so that could be a reason why the Moose did not wan't him. Also, the Moose already have their raw rookie (Grabner). Simek, like Grabner appears to get frustrated at times when he is not doing well. Throwing Simek into the battle against 30+ year old men at this point isn't a good idea. Scott Arniel is a wierd character, and I would hate for Simek to lose confidence after coming of such a great year.
No news on his contract fron the Nuck organization He is not a "big name", yet
LOOSE PUCKS: After advancing, the Moose should be getting some help on the back end since 2005 Canucks first rounder Luc Bourdon and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles were eliminated from the QMJHL playoffs last night ... Although the power play efficiency (5-for-48) isn't great, the Moose power play scored in five of the seven games this series, including one in each of the final four contests.

this is the first year i've actually payed attention and checked up on canuck prospects this year. So far it seems everyone is doing fairly well, there is alot of hype for bourdon, grabner and schneider etc. Anyway, for those who followed the prospects before this year, how was nathan smith recieved by canuck fans when drafted? was there alot of hype surrounding him as well, or was there dissapointment from the get go? I'm pretty sure he can be classified as a NHL bust by now, but back than, did u guys all think he would be an impact player for us, and how long did it take for everyone to realize that hes a lost cause. Basically my point is that was the hype between ie. Grabner equal to Smith when drafted, and if so, is it okay to assume grabner or even bourdon won't be duds? I know u guys are gonna say u can't compare smith to grabner etc... but nonetheless, there were certain expectations from Smith, you don't just get drated in the first round for being good defensivly.

In fact, Vancouver got things started early, sending defenceman Alex Edler back to the Moose yesterday.
No longer needed on a healthy blue-line out west, Edler will, presumably, slip right back into his role as one of the top defencemen here.
Small but speedy forward Brandon Reid was called up, but that's not a bad tradeoff.
"Eddie's amazing," Moose head coach Scott Arniel said of Edler. "In a short period of time his growth as a player has been tremendous. He's like a seasoned vet out there. We use him in all situations ... against the other team's big lines.
"Nothing will change. He's been called up a number of times, and when he comes back here he plays hard. He's a real good pro."

Chances of them making the team next year from top(greatest chance) to bottom not factoring in Simek, Shirokov or Koltsov.
Would you fit Nathan Smith in there anywhere? I think he might be a good cheap 4th line option that they'll use. Then again with a healthy Rick Rypien and Tyler Bouck it's hard to say whether or not he'd get the choice ahead of them.
