I don't know about you but personally if our first rounder this year becomes a player like Mo I would be very happy. Think about how many players drafted at or below #25 that turned out to be solid first or second liners... now think about how many didn't even make the NHL.

Personally, I hate Morrison's lack of size. It makes him a very one dimensional player that disappears without speed. He's weak, doesn't shield the puck well on cycles and often breaks dangerous cycles by losing a puck battle due to his lack of strength. Mo was drafted @ #39, not #25, and there is a reason a Hobey Baker winner drops to #39. Mo is a good 2nd round pick, and a decent 2nd line centre, but he'd be a bad 1st rounder.

I can't say this enough, we need more SIZE down the middle. Look at San Jose (imagine if they had some defence) and Anaheim. Those are the teams we need to emulate as much as Buffalo. The reason Buffalo is down 3-1 is because Ottawa can contain their speed by forcing them to the outside. I'd love to see Ottawa try that against Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Anaheim and San Jose both have forwards with the speed of Buffalo's but the difference is they're all 6'2"+ 210lb+. You can't easily divert their center of gravity.

Well if I got 93 million tax free I would play in Russia as well. Wow, didn't know Koltsov could command so much. ;)

That mock draft is horrible, Eller isn't even a 1st rounder, or MacMillan, or even Veilleux i think

Koltsov news is diapointing, but i like Krajicek, and he prolly woulda been the roster player moved for Kiril

Also, this stops a SERIOUS clog at D for us, which could have potentially stunted the growth of some d-men

As for the Moose, Maxime Fortunus was a beast this year, i can see him being a depth d-man in the future, kind of like a Fitzpatrick

Yeah that mock was a month old.

Eller would be a mid to late 1st now.

Please god, leave us Eller.

obviously not

He would be like the highest paid athlete in the world minus sponsors/endorsements.

I didn't know Charles Wang owned teams in the Russian league.

I think he forgot to press shift when hitting 9. Its 3 million. He nets himself a 1.7 million net which is equivalent to roughly a 3 million NHL contract.

Bourdon is really not developing quickly when you compare him to Marc Staal and Kopitar.

One will bleed for his teammates while the other one cries

Kopitar = Forward.

Thought that I’d just point that out to you since it doesn’t appear that you have noticed this yet.

Defencemen develop perhaps slower than goalies. Other than Dion "diamond in the rough" Phaneuf who can you name that has developed into to a top four D-man by the age of 20.

I only mentioned Kopitar because he was touted to be great by scouting reports and we passed up on a big centre which was a position we need to fill apparently?

As for Marc Staal, he dominated the OHL as a d man and won awards that other Great d man in the NHL had won in the past. While Bourdon although good wasn't a star player in juniors. So imo he failed to meet his 1st round draft expectation as of now.

Mario Bliznak
Matt Butcher
Colby Genoway

Yeah, I'd say so.

More Lars Eller write ups:

Eller is the best Dane available this year. He has great size and is a very good two way player. Towards the end of the year, as the competition became stiffer, Eller added a good physical element to his game and began to muck and grind for the puck. Eller has a good skill set; strong skating, good vision and a great shot. He is very responsible at both ends of the ice and is strong on his skates. Eller’s biggest strength is his mature, smart style of play and his ability to dominate on special teams.

Sounds like a player for the "New" Canucks to me <_<

Also, a nice report here:

Right, well we didnt have a crystal ball

Marc Staal had about the same type of year as Bourdon, in fact, Bourdon had a better year

Nobody could tell Staal would have a better final year as a junior

And i don't know why you bother bringing this up, you're not original at all, this had been brought up time and time again, spawning massive arguments, and every time it's come up you Kopitar fanboys go down like Icarus (que you Wikipedia'n Icarus) so here's a word for the wise: fly low.
