Some good prospects left un-signed on that list

Cant believe Florida didnt sign Plante

Nicklas Danielsson was actually offered a contract last draft by us, he turned it down

Just a note on Thelen...

Theres a debate on whether he will re-enter the draft or become a UFA. It has something to do with the Cap as well as the fact that Thelen played NCAA and WHL, not sure on the specifics though. Anyways apparently the NHL and Wild are leaning towards Thelen re-entering the draft giving the Wild a 42nd overall pick in compensation. Thelens agent JP Barry is fighting for Thelen to become a UFA.

Also..

Can't wait for the new Draft thread, seems like every day there is a new thread about who the Canucks should draft, and all they really consist of is a ISS report copied and pasted off TSN. We need to get some serious discussion going on about the draft.

Both Kenndal McArdle and AJ Thelen did not sign?!?! Surprised. Yesterday on the TEAM 1040, Dave Nonis said they're pursuing a couple of unsigned prospects, could Thelen and McArdle be some of them?

Hope so,

"If you can't draft and sign your own (Schneider and Koltsov), then sign someone else's!"

Kenndal McArdle would be a nice pick up for sure. Need a C and we could have 2 all rookie lines on the Moose:

Raymond Bliznak Grabner
McArdle ? Simek

I don’t know, but it sure hope so.

I think that on top of possibly getting McCardle, Nonis needs to get Chris Durand. He numbers have decreased since he was drafted, but he's big and it looks like he had a great playoffs and that could be the confidence booster that he needs. Adam Hobson would be nice too.

**Wait's for AK-47 to come into this thread and say "Nonis, pick-up Zubov, Vyacheslav Buravchikov, Johan Andersson, Mikhail Zhukov, Nikolai Lemtyugov, and all of Nashville’s dumped Russian prospects!"**

Edit: Booo. Tyler Green (Team 1040 producer) just said on air that McCardle signed with the Panthers today.

They updated their mock draft. It now has us picking Joakim Anderson.

Btw, here's a Vancouver Sun article on McCardle signing with the Cats. Thelen was not signed and it notes that in the article as well. Nonis, sign Thelen! HE'S A GIANT?!#!?@! ;)

Not expected to be a prolific scorer, but who knows.

This draft is very deep for defensemen. You have guys like Blum, good two-way playing defensemen, or Petrecki, who is often compared to Barret Jackman, only with a 6'3" frame. I'd also like Tommy Cross, who moves very well for his size. He is compared by ESPN to Ohlund.

...Or you have guys like Katic, who is one of the best skaters in the OHL, with terrific vision. A Koltsov for this draft, teams may gamble since size is not a necessity any longer in the NHL. He could really blossom under the tutelage of Mitchell. Hickey is another guy similar to Katic, who uses his speed to back check himself to a +15.

There are a boatload of defensemen who are all to be solid prospects, as opposed to the crapshoot that is forwards this draft.

Should we draft forwards or defensemen?

Best Player available with a forward, specifically centre, bias.

There are a ton of puck moving dmen this draft, one will be available in the later rounds.

If it was the 2008 draft I'd be all for trading up...not this year. It's not close to being worth it when most are lucky to be 2nd liners or would 2nd rounders in most years.

I have a feeling Veulliuex is going to be a steal in the 2nd round. Shown way more offensive talent than Gillies and is huge. I'd be happy with him.
