Well all I can say is everyone who's on this section of the board will be purchasing Antlervision a whole lot more with the likes of:

Grabner
Schneider
Raymond
Simek
Bliznak
Bourdon
Edler
Rahimi

on the Moose....I know I will.

God your sig ticks me off
Im doing a new CDC update, a full season review with a review of each prospects upcoming season. Is that good enough?

If not there's no need for a new thread, i can do a full detailed post. But some of the new moose players wont be considered prospects (i.e. Classen, Isbister) And above that, everyone should know what'll go on, theres not much to figuring out what players will be on the squad

As things are right now my only concern is if they develop 3 scoring lines because I don't think Simek is going to be playing a checking role.

Thanks to mr7 for the sig

Hmmm.

Raymond Shannon Simek?
Grabner Moran Hansen?
Brown Classen Keane?

Admittedly, I know nothing about Classen. I wonder what lines we're lookin' at down there...

Edit: I forgot Jaffray.

Exactly you forgot Jaffray, can you say Offensive upside with on hell of a D line-up if Edler and Bourdon don't make the big club. WOW....exciting

So glad that Schnieder signed...trade value through the roof.

Nice seeing him wearing that Canuck hat on SPAC!

I was gone for the draft so I might as well just share my opinions on the players now.

Patrick White - I knew that Nonis was going to go off the board again. He has a knack for doing that and it has so far paid off with a few of our earlier round picks. He has good size and I'm glad Nonis did what he needed to do and draft a bigger centerman.

Taylor Ellington - I don't know what I think of him. Although I like his rough style of play, he wasn't exactly what we needed in that defense is the last thing that we need to stock up on. It kills me to know that we missed McLean by one stinking pick and I really think that we made a mistake by not drafting Vellieux or Tyrell.

And for the rest of the picks, I liked the Charles-Antoine Messier and Gender ( ;) ) pick but the Russian pick was really risky. Without the transfer agreement I would be very cautious to draft any Russian playing in Russia.

Overall, I would give it a B+. Nonis really upgraded in the positions that we really needed help.

The young guns (Grabner, Hansen, Raymond and Simek) need to play on a scoring line next season.

Schneider signs and I am incredibly happy. Wouldn't mind seeing him as the next starter.

I'm sorry but I hope you're not thinking about letting Luongo bolt. Luongo has HOF potential and I'd like to have a Canuck make it in tyvm. We keep Louie...

"...by any means neccessary."

Schneider will develop along with all our other guys and help them get a feel of what it's like playing for a world class 'tender so when we call 'em up they'll be oozing confidence.

I merely stated that I wouldn't mind him as our future starter. That's at least 3 years away. Many things can change.

Having a plan B is fine. What worries me is when the unknown commodity that is plan B becomes so "flavour of the month" that people starting entertaining ideas that said Plan B should supplant plan A.

This is known as the "backup QB" syndrome, aka the "Jeff Hostetler syndrome". That is a problem.

Toxic will be thrilled to hear this... ;)

Salmon Kings net Bridges for next season

Thursday, July 12, 2007

http://www.salmonkin...view.asp?ID=292

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the team has agreed to terms with Goaltender Bryan Bridges for his second pro season.

Bridges, 21, set the Salmon Kings record for most consecutive wins (5) and posted a career high 0.977 save percentage twice (Jan 24 vs Long Beach, March 24 vs Long Beach) last season. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Victoria native was awarded ECHL Rookie of the Month for March, having earned a 5-0-1 record, 1.62 goals against average, and 0.956 save percentage.

“Bryan is a very talented goaltender who peaked at an opportune time for us in his rookie season,” said Dan Belisle, Vice-President of Hockey Operations and General Manager. “We are pleased to have him return, and look forward to continue helping him train for the next level of his career.”

Before turning pro, Bridges spent five seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) between the Kootenay Ice and the Seattle Thunderbirds. He currently holds the Thunderbirds records for most single season shutouts (13), best single season goals against average (1.79), most career shutouts (20), and best career goals against average (2.28).

He was invited to the 2006 Vancouver Canucks prospects camp after an injury to Julien Ellis, and then attended the Salmon Kings camp in October. In 33 regular season games in 2006-07, Bridges finished with a 14-16-1 record, 3.32 goals against average, and a 0.905 save percentage.

“Despite our loss in the first round of playoffs, I consider last season as being very successful. I believe this year will only get better,” said the former Peninsula Panthers Junior ‘B’ player. “I still have a few years to progress and improve my skills to move up to the next level, and the best opportunity for me to do so is in this league and with this team.” Bridges also plans to assist in a hockey camp in Campbell River, BC this August.

Russians pass on IIHF transfer agreement--again
Posted by George James Malik July 13, 2007 12:42PM
Once again, the Russians have passed :( on signing the NHL-IIHF transfer agreement, which allows European hockey organizations to be compensated when their players are signed by NHL teams:

July 13, Canadian Press: Six major European hockey countries ratified a new four-year player transfer agreement Friday, with Russia again refusing to sign.
The Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Slovakia and Switzerland signed the 2007-2011 deal between the IIHF member associations, their leagues and the NHL. As with the previous agreement, Russia held out, the IIHF said.
...
By refusing to sign, the Russian federation risks losing its players for nothing. NHL clubs are forbidden from acquiring players already under contract in Russia, but can take free agents without paying compensation.

Current labour laws in Russia allow players such as Pittsburgh Penguins centre Evgeni Malkin to give their club little notice before terminating a contract, freeing them to sign with an NHL team. An amendment to the law is expected to be implemented soon, preventing players from escaping so quickly

Russia just backed out of that NATO agreement too. Putin seems to be beefing up his dictatorship so that he can keep all that talent in the Motherland.

I don't really care. There are few Russian NHLers with Stanley Cup work ethic, so f*ck 'em. But lets pleeeeeaaaase stop drafting them. It's such a waste.
