Isnt it funny though

CDC begins talking about Lindros
Eklund says we're talking to him

CDC reports Ekman was talking to the Canucks
Eklund reports it

CDC had a big thread on Jozef Balej
Eklund reports we signed him

CDC has MULTIPLE threads on Linden
Eklund hops on the Linden train and says he's signed

CDC talks about the possibility of Elias being traded here
Eklund says it's almost a done-deal

CDC begins talking about Matt Stajan
Eklund reports we're interested

CDC throws Olli Jokinen's name last trade-deadline
Eklund revives it by saying we want him

And on, and on, and on it goes

What a f*cking nut-job

Sounds a bit like a chicken and egg problem. Does Eklund's rumour always come first or does speculation from CDC come first?

The thing I love is that the players he names are obviously guys the Canucks could or should be interested in. Elias? Erik Cole? Lindros? Of course they're options to fill some of our voids up front. The question is, how do we get said players to come here, how do we sign then for cheap, and, in the case of Elias, how do we avoid getting stuck with a fat contract when he's over the hill?

Anyway, an on-topic question: Fitzgerald = enforcer for the Moose? I can't really see him earning a spot on the big squad with all the depth (and one-way contracts) we have. I wouldn't mind seeing him called up once or twice, just to watch a brutal, bloody, violent hockey fight.

I say Fitzgerald is going to fight for a spot on the Moose and probably split time with the S-Kings. Can't see us bringing him in as an enforcer for the Nucks. He's only 22, another young project defenseman though so thats good.

The Moose look stacked. This will surely inflate Schneider's stats and send his "bluechip prospect" stock through the roof. Very good news for us.

Can't spell Kesler without Selke.

Slapyourself if you think Kesler will score 25+ goals, he just doesn't have the offensive skill.

From Nonis' 1040 Interview.

Raymond: Needs to become a man, gain some weight, thinks he will be a top 6 forward in the near future

Grabner: Needs to get stronger.

Does anyone have a list of minor league players that the Canucks have signed from Europe CHL NCAA or from trades this offseason?

I've been away for 2 weeks, and will be away for a few weeks more

I have had nothing to do with the prospect central page recently, i am however doing ll the bio's, talent analysis etc... for each player thats "In the System"

I dont have much say anymore, neither does the manager, it;s run by the NHL now, what thy say, goes.

went on the moose boards and Matt said that he's guessing the lineup for the Salmon Kings to look like this this season...

Quote

I'm guessing something like this:

Goalies

Bryan Bridges
Julien Ellis**

Defensemen:

Paul Ballantyne
Dylan Yeo*
Matt Kelly*
Patrick Coulombe**
Phil Cole
Gustav Engman
Seamus Young
Zack Fitzgerald**

Forwards:

Milan Gajic
Ash Goldie
Wes Goldie
Mario Bliznak**
Kiel McLeod
Marc-Andre Bernier**
Robin Gomez
Derek Krestanovich
Jordan Krestanovich
Darryl Lloyd
Jaraj Simek**

** Under contract to Vancouver
* Under contract to Manitoba

I'd expect one of, or possibly both Bliznak and Simek to make the Moose but I put them on the list anyways.

here's an update on Patrick White's progress at the Lake Placid U 20 Evaluation Camp

Quote

Monday, August 6, 2007

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Team White capped another comeback victory over Team Blue here today during the 2007 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp at the Olympic Center. Chris Summers (Milan, Mich.) notched a power-play goal with 41 seconds left in the game to lift Team White to a 4-3 win over Team Blue.

Although Team White’s Rhett Rakhshani (Huntington Beach, Calif.) opened the scoring in the first period with a shorthanded goal at the 9:41 mark, Team Blue powered back with a pair of tallies just 45 seconds apart. Mike Carman (Apple Valley, Minn.) notched a power-play goal to tie the game at 13: 05, and Patrick Kane (Buffalo, N.Y.) tapped in a rebound at 13: 50 to give Team Blue the 2-1 lead.

In a scoreless second period, Josh Unice (Toledo, Ohio) and Jeremy Smith (Brownstown, Mich.) combined for 16 saves for Team Blue.

In the final frame, Team Blue’s Patrick White (Grand Rapids, Minn.) scored a shorthanded breakaway goal to extend his team’s lead to 3-1 at 8:26, but Team White came back to net three unanswered goals in the second half of the period.

A Brian Strait (Waltham, Mass.) slap shot ricocheted off Tony Romano (Smithtown, N.Y.), who was traded to Team White earlier in the day for James vanRiemsdyk (Middletown, N.J.), and into Team Blue’s net to make it a one-goal game at 14:35. Less than two minutes later, Trent Palm (Edina, Minn.) tied the game at 3-3 when he fired a wrist shot into an open net while Smith was tripped up. Summers notched the game-winner at 19:19 during a Team White power play to seal the victory.

Team White’s Kent Patterson (Plymouth, Minn.) and Joe Palmer (Yorkville, N.Y.) combined for 28 saves in the winning effort.

The two U.S. squads will now face off against Under-20 teams from Finland and Sweden in a series of eight international scrimmages, beginning tomorrow. Team Blue will take on Team Finland at 4 p.m. EDT, while Team White will face Team Sweden at 7 p.m. EDT. Both games will be played at the Olympic Center. Tickets are available through the Olympic Regional Development Authority (518-523-1655/www.orda.org).

Two Restigouche Tigers products of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League are moving on to new teams, the league announced yesterday.

Pierre-Cedric Labrie, who played for the Tigers during the 2005-06 season, has signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League.

The 20-year-old left-winger from Baie-Comeau, Que. scored 43 goals and 86 points in 54 games for Restigouche in 2005-06. He played last season with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he racked up 35 goals and 63 points in 68 games.

"We were aware of his importance to our team and the league in general as an above average star, but his performance has given more visibility and importance in terms of our direction and intent," said Tigers head coach and general manager John Paris. "We wish him success for his continued development and a fruitful NHL career.
