Was at the Pre-Season opener in the lower bowl (sec 117 row 20 seat 102). Now I'm not going to jump to assumptions about players based on one game, but here's what I took out of it.
Everyone probably knows everything about Mason Raymond, so I'll cut it short. I wasn't disappointed, he played smart, but he also didn't get a chance to stand out either. He's very fast, but he was overshadowed by Ryan Shannon that game. If Shannon gets to stay-up in the NHL, he is one of the fastest skaters - if not the fastest skater in the NHL. Only thing I worry about Shannon if he's up the the big club is a Dion sandwich on the boards every time we face our division rivals. Anyway back to prospects, Raymond is new to the physical level of NHL, so obviously at first he's not used to the hits he was taking - but he will get used to it very fast. I'm a Bourdon fan, so was slightly disappointed with his play at that game. Essentially what everyone else knocks on him about. Skilled, makes dumb plays. I might be wrong but I think he turned it over leading to the first goal for the Ducks. It's just one game. The worst part of it is having to ignore more ZOMG should hav drfted Kopitar talk than before. I sure hope he plays well enough, either in other pre-season games or down in Manitoba to keep quiet all this apocalyptic negativity. If he plays like that in the other games, he's just not NHL ready - Scott Arniel should help there. Don't get a chance to follow the Moose, so Nathan McIver was a pleasant surprise - granted I don't know how he always plays. Edler, dont really consider him a prospect anymore. He will be with the Nucks alot this year and more so after that. Jozef Balej(know he's not a prospect) looked promising... but if he doesn't finish those goals, Nuck fans will probably send him in the Santala boat back home. Hopefully we will get to see other prospects play than the line-up they had for the first pre-season game - Here's to looking forward to the rest of games to come ;)

Anyone not watching tonight's game is missing out big time. Everyone is playing very well. Enjoy the short time where those "glass is half empty" guys will have a tough time saying anything bad. Enjoy the Golden Age ;)

Simek and Grabner were tough S.O.B's out there.

Finally people get to see the fruit of Nonis' drafting.

I know its just preseason, but still.....Grabner only played under 10 minutes.

I always knew how good simek/grabner were. But everyone keptbashing Grabby and no one talked about simek ( one of the top scorers in the WHL)
Grabby proved them wrong by being strong, getting 2 points and simek had a huge hit and lots of chances.
But, its 2 pre-season games. We will see how this pans out.

LMFAO @ everyone jumping on the Grabner bandwagon.

Simek looked really good tonight.... I'll take the credit for it :P *Cough inside joke*

Edler looked very stead as well. Great skater, has a very accurate hard shot.

LOL @ Grabner putting Phaneuf over the bench.

Hansen was decent, he can play better IMO.

Labrie looked slow, and useless. Like worse then Lee Goren useless.

I wasn't impressed with Sharrow either.

Shannon was good, I still wanna see more finish from him.

I'm up of town for 4 days now, you guys better give me some reports!.

Grabner has been my favourite prospect since he was drafted, I always defended him when he was being bashed, I am not jumping on the "Bandwagon" I have a signed spokan card from him.

You don't have to defend yourself. Itz the truth about the general population here on CDC. All the ****ing Grabby bashers can go STFU for 24 hours.

LMFAO

Good day.

Edler is going to be good, he is already so mature, do you think he will challenge for the 6th spot?

He's already #5 right now with Miller and Salo out.

Anyone else think that Simek would be a good linemate for the Sedin's. Maybe not this year but in the future. Not sure on how good his finishing skills are, but he's a puck control guy that play's well in tight areas. Plus his skating isn't that great so he's a good linemate for the Sedin's. Not much point wasting a skilled skater with the Sedin's.
