Moose Notes:
Training camp - Day 1
Intrasquad highlights: Team White prevailed in the first intrasquad game, 4-3 over Team Black. Centre Ash Goldie scored two goals while defenceman Jason Dest and winger Peder Skinner had White markers.
Daniel Rahimi, Colin Sinclair and Danny Groulx scored for losing Black.
* What the coach saw: Beyond Goldie's two-goal game, Moose coach Scott Arniel saw much that was predictable on Monday. Said Arniel: "There were some different guys who made some real good offensive plays. I liked the way (Alex) Bolduc skated. Keaner (Mike Keane) looked like his veteran self out there. And with some young guys I hadn't seen before, there were some things I liked."
* What you need to know: A feeling-out first day on the ice produced no scraps. Expect competition for the few jobs the Moose may have open to intensify leading up to the first of three exhibition games on Wednesday night in Steinbach against the U of M Bisons.
* Daily shipment: Defenceman Daniel Rahimi, re-assigned by Vancouver on Sunday, was on the ice here Monday,
as was former Brandon Wheat Kings star Mark Derlago, who was added on a training-camp tryout.

Derlego led the WHL in goals last year. I remember on an end of the year interview Arniel went on the record that he personally believed that Derlego did not have the foot Speed to succeed at the next level. I would be interested to see if he can impress in the upcoming weeks.
