Hey Toxic, what's your thought with Raymond.
Just wondering if you think he'll stay up here year round, and stuff.
Thanks in advance.

Well, now we know Luc will be a dominant AHL player at least. ;)

Luc Bourdon will be a very good defenceman in the NHL but hes going to be a late bloomer due to his weak mental strength. It's not a question whether he has the skills to be a top 2 defenceman, its the question of when is he going to be comfortable playing under pressure.

When he's relaxed, hes calm, cool, and collective which elevates his play monumentally, however, when the pressure is too much his skills are equal to Wade Belaks.

I agree....I would give the edge to Raymond over Bourdon on being the first to stay a full season.

Since i have to be neutral or positive on almost everything i say, i will tell you this, and this is all you need to know about him

Sarauer will struggle to maintain a career in the ECHL once his NCAA career is over

Or in different wording:

He will do better trying to find a career with his NMU education than to find one as a hockey player

Which is a shame, because he has terrific size, and had some potential coming out of the BCHL, i think he joined a poor program though

Raymond looks like he needs some seasoning in the Minors. He's got skill but we don't have a true sniper and he always looks to pass. He needs to go on a 10 game stint with the Moose.

Thanks to mr7 for the sig

I am drooling at the prospect that the Canucks may have a chance to draft Kyle Beach if they continue to lose.

Raymond is learning some very key aspects of the Canucks game in his time with the big club, especially the past 3 games.

- How to kill time during the 10-15 second interval on the powerplay while your defenceman skate all the way down the ice to fetch the puck. Also how to call for a change during this time.

- Acceleration off the draw, skating torwards his own net or to rush the point to block the shooting lane due to a lost faceoff in all 3 zones

- Perfecting the dejected skate to the bench after a goal against

- How to stop during a 3 on 2 and fire a pass to the trailing defensive defenceman on his weak side backhand

- How not to shoot the puck on net

Good for you, you can leave now, one reason why people consider this one of the few great threads on this forum is because for the most part un-original trolls such as yourself have had the decency not to degrade and corrupt the 4,000+ replies here b mugging prospects at every given moment.

Your just as bad as the guy who thinks Raymond and Hansen and Simek will all become 3rd or 4th line checkers.

This is your cue to leave. I suggest you take it.

Ellington records his 1st point of the year on the GWG with under 2 minutes to go vs. Saskatoon (it was an assist)

Excellent.

Keep up up Ellington.

Turns out that one of my friends played hockey with him/was friends with him.

Bourdon is pleasing me this year. Hopefully he continues like this.
Why didn't he play like this at training camp?

Ridiculously blown out of proportion expectations.

Tried to do too much.

Yeah, I get people were expecting him to be a Phaneuf and whatnot but he seems to be doing better in the 'Peg.
Probably less pressure as you mentoned.

He's just stating his opinions. And while he could have said it a lot better, that doesn't mean he should be shunned.

I'm not for mugging prospects or anything, but holding them up like they're gods of hockey is ridiculous. I don't mind when people criticize players as long as it doesn't get out of hand, or the criticism is undeserving. In the same way I don't mind people getting excited about or complementing a player who does well.

In this case, I don't think that Raymond deserves criticism, but I don't think he's been playing particularly well either. Not enough to warrant praise anyways.

This is a good thread, but attacking someone for stating an oppinion (however badly it was stated) doesn't make you much better than the 'un-original trolls'. Don't you think defending Raymond would have been a better way to deal?
