Schneider, the loser in facing 33 shots on Thursday night, will be absent from the team for a number of days due to a death in his family. The Moose have recalled Julien Ellis from Victoria (ECHL) in the interim.
WOW, best wishes go out to Cory's family.

Vancouver has done a decent job locking up good defensive prospects with Edler and Bourdon, and a fantastic job of acquiring franchise goaltender Roberto Luongo. Their main problem right now is offense. Is Markus Naslund on his last leg? Can the Sedins continue to hold the team together? Was, as hard as it is to say, Todd Bertuzzi a good thing to have on the team? Don't answer that last one. But right now one thing is clear, Vancouver needs offense, and Grabner will not supply it on the level they need, plus they don't have the grit Bert took when he departed for Florida. The 'match made in heaven' for the Vancouver Canucks is Kyle Beach of the Everett Silvertips. The offensively gifted power forward has 20 points in 12 games, along with 64 penalty minutes as a center. Beach stands at 6'3" 203lbs with the potential to gain 5-10lbs by draft day. Convinced now? A large power forward netting more than one point per game for Everett. The Vancouver Canucks need to start wheeling and dealing to get this guy on their team. His ability to use his grit and size to wrestle the puck from his hapless victims is uncanny, but his ability to take that and create offensive opportunities for his own team is a feat of it's own. The Vancouver Canucks could benefit heavily by drafting this guy. Their 'knight in shining armor' to rekindle a thin offense.

I wouldn't mind that. I seem to recall things going well the last time the Canucks traded a top defenseman for a high draft pick.
