do it up Nonis

Hah.

I think more,

McIver
One of Grabner / Simek / Raymond
4th rounder

for

CPZ
3rd rounder

Pittsburgh gets a defenseman who could possibly step up and contribute who probably wouldn't get that opportunity here, they get a winger with a lot of upside and Canucks get a young kid who can play center and possibly step up and play wing with the Sedins....either way he's most likely going to have to convert with Esposito, Crosby and Malkin in Pittsburgh.

just to clarify, my proposal was a joke in response to your sig

I realize determining sarcasm is now impossible on CDC without putting "/sarcasm".

CPZ would be an ideal Sedin style linemate. A pure finisher who is inept at creating opportunities, so he can just stand by the net and wait while not interfering with what they do.

Good news everyone.

HF has not ranked us in the bottom 3rd of the league for their organizational rankings.

Well we've only gotten better since last year. I'm going to predict we're 16th.

I'm surprised Calgary isn't in the bottom 10, who does this team have exactly? Dustin Boyd will be a solid good NHLer, Backlund should become a 2nd Line Center, Puustinen could be a good player one day. But there isn't a lot after that. I am not sold at all on Leland Irving, Kris Chucko is pretty much a bust already, Daniel Ryder has disappeared from the AHL team and Taratukhin probably isn't coming back from Russia.

Maybe I'm being biased, but their prospect cupboard looks very bare.

I wonder who is going to be #1? I think Phoenix, Chicago, St.Louis, Edmonton and the Rangers will be the Top 5. (in no particular order) LA , Washington and Columbus could crack the top 5 as well.

Russian Prospects.com has updated information on Canuck prospect Denis Grot.

Quote

December 2007 Update: Sized two-way defenseman…has developed a bit more into a defensive role with the years, as when he was younger he was more offensive minded…an utility player that can be used in all situation…his skating is good as it always been…has a strong shot but he should use it a bit more, because he has only scored three goals in his RSL career…has a good decision making ability, but needs to improve his passing skills…at once a highly touted player who probably has hit his ceiling and won’t improve dramatically anymore

Islanders prospect Kyle Okposo has decided to turn pro and signed with the Isles today.

What does this have to do with anything? Well, Okposo was on the top line for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, which means that Patrick White is going to be getting some increased icetime, hopefully.

Might have spoken too soon.

Apparently Mike Carmen is going to be back next term and he'll essentially offset Okposo leaving.

Gophers fans are livid about this.

Gopherheads shouldn't be too mad, they werent going to go anywhere, they should have but their goal tending is too weak to carry them anywhere.

GPL is rioting over this.

"He is going to get booed when he comes back to the X..."
"So much for 'character'..."
Etc.

Gopher fans seem to think that White or Hoeffl now have the chance to step up, so, ball is in their court. Hopefully White can do something!

15. Vancouver Canucks

In spite of perennial playoff appearances, the Canucks have nonetheless compiled a few outstanding prospects. However, after that, there is a fairly significant drop-off in overall talent within the organization. Strengths: Cory Schneider, Alexander Edler and Luc Bourdon could form a powerful back-end for the Canucks for years to come. Boston College goalie Schneider has all the earmarks of a top backstop, while rangy Swede Edler is most likely a top-pairing NHL defenseman. The Canucks boast good depth at defense with big, strong Daniel Rahimi and Taylor Ellington, among others. Weaknesses: While 2007 first-round draft pick Patrick White is a very good all-around prospect, after White the forward depth is not particularly strong. Players like Austria's Michael Grabner or Mason Raymond, could develop into solid second-line players. Top five prospects: 1. Cory Schneider (G), 2. Alexander Edler (D), 3. Luc Bourdon (D), 4. Pat White ©, 5. Michael Grabner (RW). Key graduates: none.

Here is just a little update on the NHL 08 Draft class of players in the bottom tier(Since i doubt we'll be picking before 16th at worst). Since we still need more offensive help here are some players to watch out for(ISS rankings):

17. Eberle, Jordan C 5.10 172 R 5/15/90 Regina GP 36 G 24 A 15 Pts 39 +1 PIM 10
18. Nemisz, Greg C 6.03 201 C 6/6/90 Windsor GP 34 G 19 A 14 Pts 33 +14 PIM 14
20. Boedker, Mikkel LW 5.11 196 L 12/16/89 Kitchener GP 34 G 15 A 17 Pts 32 +2 PIM 6
21. Toews, David LW 5.11 185 L 6/7/90 U. North Dakota was expelled from Shattuck-St. Mary's for cheating, was commited to North Dakota
22. Tedenby, Mattias LW 5.09 161 L 2/21/90 HV71 only played 2 games with the men's team which is leading the league
24. Stefanovich, Mikhail C 6.02 200 R 11/27/89 Quebec GP 30 G 15 A 16 Pts 31
25. Jenks, A.J. C 6.02 199 L 6/27/90 Plymouth GP 32 G 19 A 11 Pts 30 -2 PIM 41
26. Tessier, Kelsey C 5.08 163 L 1/16/90 Quebec GP 36 G 16 A 25 Pts 41 PIM 25
28. Livingston, James RW 6.01 198 R 3/8/90 Sault Sainte Marie GP 35 G 10 A 12 Pts 22 +7 PIM 72
29. Colborne, Joe LW 6.04 195 L 1/30/90 Camrose (AJHL) GP 29 G 20 A 32 Pts 52
30. Grachev, Evgeny C 6.03 202 R 2/21/90 Yaroslavl I'm to weak to find russians playing in div 2

Anyways, looks like we might have to draft a player from.....oh my god the OHL if we want a big centerman. Though Joe Colborne is playing like Turris did in the Junior A and he's 6'4.

how the hell is Calgary ranked 14th ahead of us?

Schneider > Irving
Edler > all their defensemen
Bourdon > all their defensive prospects
Rahimi > all their defensive prospects
Ellington > all their Defensive prospects
White > Backlund
Grabner > Puustinen
Raymond > Donnaly
Simek > Prust or Nystrom
our other centres < Boyd

Tarathukin = never coming back from Russia
Ryder = left his AHL team without telling them and has gone into hiding in NFLD

poorly done

Nemisz and Colborne certainly have the size we are looking for.

I wouldn't mind Stefanovich or Boedker at this point.

lots of Centers to chose from this year, which is nice for our system needs. I'd love to see a player on team Canada(forward) at the juniors, it's been too long.

And there a ton of quality Dmen which will distract other teams before us from taking Centres.

Honestly I think Jordan Eberle will be the best of that bunch even though he's a little smaller. He plays on a Regina team that doesn't have a lot of other offensive players and is still scoring a great pace for a 17 year old. He doesn't get a lot of attention either because he plays in Regina and WHL players just don't seem to get that much hype anyway, but he is probably one of the best finishers in the WHL which is something we need badly.

I'd be looking at Joe Colborne from that list given where it looks like we'll place, we need a power forward in the future, Eberle would be my second choice
