Gradin has bought himself about 2 more seasons with the Edler pick alone.

Rahimi was a pretty good one too, especially since there weren't too many players we passed on that would've been way better.

On another note, I have been reading "Future Greats and Heart Breaks" by Gare Joyce, a book where he spends a year as a scout and gets to sit in on Columbus' scouting meetings, prospect interviews, and does a whole year scouting players.

Very very interesting, shows how the scouting process works and how they make the master list.

A lot more goes into drafting than taking the player with the best stats.

And CSS, ISS, CSB, Redline and Mckeen's rankings mean NOTHING.

Zip. Zero. Nadda.

They could care less what these services say.

o rly? I'd hope so...

What do you think Grabner's chances of making the NHL next year. Our farm will be filled with these prospects, and MG said he wanted speed. This Austrian Rocket fits that category, so do you think he will be a Canuck regular by next October?

Canucks of the Future
Rodin-Hodgson-Grabner
Shirokov-Schroeder-Anthony
Kablukov-Walsky-Rai
Matson-Bliznak-Bolduc

Sauve-Connauton
Ellington-Price
Andersson-Oberg
Fredheim

Schneider
Cannata

That's impossible to predict given that we don't know what moves Canuck will make in the off-season. If they bring in a lot of UFAs and sign Brunnstrom, Grabner isn't starting the season even if he has a decent camp. If there is a hole that needs to be filled, Grabner is going to have to have a good camp.

It's in Grabner's hands.

Blow them away in camp/preseason and you make room for him.

Yeah, I know, just a little reactionary.

Especially since Aquilini is hypocrite.

"Extensive experience is neccesary"

So he gets the guy with no GM'ing experience.

But I hope this means that we will never overpay severely for UFA's and the scouting staff gets overhauled after the draft, get rid of the alumni guys who seldom successful picks (Keep Gradin, Payne, Euro Scouts, FIRE THE SLOVENIA SCOUT!!!)

The thing that concerns me is that in the presser MG said he had not met the Aquilini bros before their job offer. Other sources on TSN say they have been close for quite some time. If that is true it might be suggested that he was in a potential conflict of interest as a agent. Probably not a serious situation just an indication of how up front management might be in future.

Provided Gillis pays ANY attention to Canuck assets over 07/08, I think that Hansen and Brown (if signed) have the best chance of making the team. Bourdon too, if he isn't traded.

Grabner will have a tough time cracking the roster, but he'd be first on the call-up list.

What do you think Jaffray/Shannon's future is like on this team?

Jaffray - Mainstay on the Moose
Shannon - Call-up if we need depth down the middle

Maybe I'm being a homer, but I feel like Shannon's got a lot of skill and speed, 2 things we lack. Too bad he's so small... :/ still I hope he gets a decent shot next year.

Yeah, the only knock on Shannon is his size.

He's too small for a bottom-six role, and he's just a cut below being a top-6 forward at the NHL level IMO.

We'll see - everything depends on his performance at next season's training camp.

I'm getting a little worried and nervous about Bourdon's development as for now.

It's been said but that #10 pick gets worse and worse every year.

Kopitar
Stall
Hanzal
Cogliano
matt niskanen
Marc-Edouard Vlasic
Paul Stastny
Guillaume Latendresse
Kristopher Letang 62nd overall
Sergei Kostitsyn

all selected after Bourdon. I remember Nonis saying how thrilled they were to get such a low pick and how the really wanted to make the right choice. As of now,,, ah well. Lets hope he's a later bloomer.

I think fans tend to forget how young Bourdon still is. The gamble DN took by picking this guy IMHO was that he sat out a year of junior as a 18 year old due to injury. That slowed his development. You can imagine the pressure on Bourdon as so many of his grad class move into the NHL. I think he has slowly been learning that how he thinks the game on the ice is more important than his speed and physicality. That said he could be moved in a deal which might be a sad day for the Canucks. Who knows.

Man i haven't submitted anything to Prospects Central in a looooong time

What do you guys want to see? Do you want to see a year-in-review for each player?

My only worry is that by now, most of the people that'd be reading that stuff are knowledgeable enough to know everything im going to say, so many of you guys know whats going on now i dunno whats left to write about. Plus i'm not getting ANY interviews so im stuck to analytic stories

I'm on here quit a lot but still know very little about Pat White.
Also, The Blues did a draft special video that was really neat. I don't know how much pull you have Toxic but a Canuck's special like that would be great.
Cheers.

Don't worry about us knowing everything, Toxic - the reviews are still a blast to read.

Besides, it'll give some of the newcomers (posters) information on the Canucks draft picks and what not.

Hansen 1G 1A +2 in a 5-2 Loss vs CZE.

Pretty sure he was the player of the game for DEN.

Is Eller on the Denmark squad? EDIT: Yes, he is

Boedker-Eller-Hansen will surely be Denmark's future top-line

Looks to me like Denmark will be a Div. 1 team for quite some time going forward

Here's the goal by Hansen from the WC game today. (credit to colonel_korn from HF boards for finding this on YouTube.

Sick dangle around Tomas Kaberle as Hansen steps around and roofs it from a bad angle.
