Not to attack you or anything, but:
1. So is hydroelectricity, so maybe we can have those construction builders that make dams, and so is fishery, fishermen sound good?
2. Some are made out of plastic, maybe a plastic factory worker for the new logo, thats about right huh??
3.Lumberjacks are not our heritage, sorry. What does race have to do with orcas or lumberjacks..?
4. Are you hinting that with the Johnny canuck as the logo, we'll be the most sucsessful and known team EVAR?? I wish.
The only reason JC represents the team is because we're named after it, yet you failed to mention that one....
Gee I'm glad you didn't ATTACK me. That being said, it's easy to pick apart and find fault with almost EVERYTHING.
As far as the Heritage is concerned, I was talking about the CANUCKS heritage/history going back to their Pacific Coast and Western Hockey League days when Johnny Canuck was their logo or affiliated with the Vancouver Canucks. Just like the fabled "C" and "H" is a part of the Montreal Canadiens, The Maple Leaf is part of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Indian Head part of the Chicago Blackhawks HISTORY. So what is so wrong with having something that goes back to the Vancouver Canucks EARLY days/years in Pro Hockey?
My reference to race was in regards to the Haida artwork Orca, which people claim as representing B.C. All I was saying is that HARD WORKING "lunch bucket" type workers, such as LUMBERJACKS, represent ALL races of British Columbians/Vancouverites, which would be what the "Johnny Canuck" logo would represent!
I don't understand why so many people are against that logo. It's actually of a person (whatever his "job description" is) on ice skates holding a hockey stick, and it's called, "Johnny CANUCK". It's the logo the Canucks should have used when they first entered the NHL, and if they would have, it may have still been used to this day, much like a lot of the other ones, such as Boston's, Montreal's, Toronto's, Chicago's, Detroit's, Pittsburgh's, Philadelphia's, etc.
As far as the potential success the Canucks would have if they used the Johnny Canuck logo goes, no one can say how successful they would or would not be, but they damn well sure haven't been successful with any of the OTHER logos they've used, and I don't count LOSING in two Stanley Cup finals a SUCCESS!! If the Canucks greatest claim to fame in 37+ years is LOSING in GAME 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, that is not something to be that PROUD of!
Maybe one reason why the Orca is rather popular with some Canuck fans is because it IS the Team's logo, and they feel that they have to love EVERY single thing about the team, just because it is part of the Canucks. If when they changed the logo to the Orca, they would have selected a friggin' garbage can, then the same people would probably say, "OH MY GOD, it's THE BEST LOGO IN HOCKEY" just because it's the VANCOUVER CANUCKS' "LOGO".
Like I said before, the "Stick up the Rink", "Flying V", "Downhill Skate", and "Orca" logos have had their day, and chance, why not give "Johnny Canuck" his chance? Maybe it'll FINALLY change the team's luck. It couldn't do any worse!!
