I don't like it
I like the stick in the rink or the orca
I just don't like how a lumberjack represents a canuck (not that an orca does)

Johnny CANUCK ;)

I don't understand why so many people are against that logo. It's actually of a person (whatever his "job description" is) on ice skates holding a hockey stick, and it's called, "Johnny CANUCK". It's the logo the Canucks should have used when they first entered the NHL, and if they would have, it may have still been used to this day, much like a lot of the other ones, such as Boston's, Montreal's, Toronto's, Chicago's, Detroit's, Pittsburgh's, Philadelphia's, etc.

You do realize Johnny Canuck wasn't a 'real' person. He's a comic strip character. Kind of a political Charlie Brown.

Maybe one reason why the Orca is rather popular with some Canuck fans is because it IS the Team's logo, and they feel that they have to love EVERY single thing about the team, just because it is part of the Canucks. If when they changed the logo to the Orca, they would have selected a friggin' garbage can, then the same people would probably say, "OH MY GOD, it's THE BEST LOGO IN HOCKEY" just because it's the VANCOUVER CANUCKS' "LOGO".

I didn't like the stick/rink much when it was new. Absolutely hated the Flying V, the yellow version in particualr. Didn't mind the Skate once they finally got rid of the yellow version and loved the Orca jerseys immediately. That's a rather long wait for a logo I actually liked. Kind of blows your theory.

That's the first Johnny Canuck concept I can see some potential in.

Never been a fan of the old & dated Johnny Canuck, or the Paul Bunyan Vancouver Giants look.

Paul Bunyan fits the Giants. But he is not Johhny Canuck.

Meanwhile, the old Johnny Canuck drawing in circulation, needed updating.

Now this: looks promising.

And that's coming from someone who disliked the old uninspired look.

The logo is nice but it would never last. We would have to change our logo again five years from now. Kinda reminds me of those logo's u get to choose from when creating teams on the NHL video games.

Although we can all debate with each other until the cows come home, I feel that there are a few things that people are failing to realize.

The Orca logo is a corporate logo, representing Orca Bay Sports, but, it is an awful Quu-us (first nations) killer whale.

While "Johnny Canuck" has potential, it was a comic book character, and I do not believe that represents "BC".

While we know that the Orca will stay, picture a phasing/fading "Johnny into wolf" or half and half design which i think would be kinda all of us here in BC. The wolf would represent the wild here in BC, and Johnny is the people.

Also, team logos, are designed by people who make a lot of money.

Lastly, I would like to reiterate what was said before, but still rings true; Race has nothing to do with "canucks", culture maybe, but not race, it is not wise to confuse the two.

I think that whatever the "new" look is, it doesn't chage the fact that canucks fans have the most passion, and are probably the most intense people I have ever known. While we can't all be happy, We are all Canucks....

Which leaked one are you referring to?

1) It's not a "corporate" logo in the typical sense of the term. There is, obviously, a link between the use of the Orca and Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment, but Orca Bay has it's own, separate, logo. Regardless, Orca Bay IS the Canucks. They serve no other function but to run the hockey team and GM Place. It's not like the Canucks are skating out with the Nike Swoosh as their crest, promoting a brand or product. The only brand or product they're promoting is themselves. I doubt anyone outside BC looks at the Orca logo and says "oh, they're just promoting their holding company".

2) Dunno about you, but I think there are several animals that are more unique to, and representative of, BC than a wolf. An orca whale being one of them.

3) Well, unfortunately, race has kind of come into play a little as some object to the Orca's homage to native design, feeling it doesn't represent the team or themselves properly. I personally have no problem with it, but one an certainly sympathize. Much like the 2010 Olympic logo, many feel it's representative of a small group of people and not "Canuck Nation" as a whole, and while it's probably a leans toward sensationalism, one can appreciate how it would feel when a symbol is chosen for the team you cheer for and that symbol gives you a sense of alienation instead of connection.

all league logo's go through that site, thats where the Sabres leaked logo came from.

I mistaken stated that JPatton were the logo designers for the Sabres but no, they just are essentially a repository for all the licesed content of the NHL...

The real designer of the slug is hopefully hiding in a cave somewhere.

Canuck was a slang term for French Canadian lumberjack working in British Columbia in the old Klondike days. Lumberjacks are the ONLY thing that actually represents our teams name!
