lol, the jerseys have been done for a long time. They've already had a photoshoot with them and I'm sure merchandise is in production. The Canucks never really planned to release on Aug. 1, it was just some vague date people kept on pushing, without any proof. Nothing has been delayed, it just takes time to rebrand your hockey club.

Yeah, after rethinking this, I agree.

By the way...my sister's lesbian lover's uncle's brother knows a guy who has drinks with the brother of the molson guy's nighbor's nephew who saw Nonis in the market one day said the jerseys look like crap.

Finally, a credible source.
But shouldn't Nonis have been in Tim Horton's when the guy talked to him?

(haha...another doughnut joke)

Doesn't that make you think that all this talk from Nonis and Zimmerman about "patent and copyright issues causing over $1m in redesign" was a bunch of smoke being blown up our backsides?

I find the whole secrecy and circus surrounding the new jerseys really perplexing. It seems to me like they're trying to create some kind of launch "buzz" around the jerseys. And they don't have to.

With the market in Vancouver so voracious for anything to do with the Canucks, the team would not have to do ANYTHING to promote this team. They don't have to promote tickets or games or pay-per-view, because the fans are so dialed-in and hockey-mad.

They could have released the jerseys in July with ZERO launch and still would have sold out every jersey west of the Rockies.

So - my suspicion is that they tried to redesign the jerseys and something got f**ked up - very, very badly. And all this nonsense from Nonis and Zimmerman and others is just to cover up a huge set of mistakes.

You know, I resisted posting this until now, because I know someone's going to try and call me on my supposed "bullsh*t", but after reading the above, I felt compelled to.

A close relative of mine has seen the jerseys, as they were part of the photoshoot with Willie Mitchell. Now obviously they signed a confidentiality agreement, and couldn't/wouldn't tell me anything at all. However the one thing they did say is "You'll probably be underwhelmed."

So yea, i'd say this guy's post is probably pretty close to what happened.

With the way bullsh!t is surfacing on this thread, I think I'll believe your second last line...

Prepare for disappointment?

Hey, on the front page, on the screeen about becoming the next canucks blogger, notice the colours of the orca lights. I don't know if they've always had the balck and white, or is it navy and white ones like those? are they new?

I'll vote that the original re-design was the version on the Fin's Friends thing, but when they saw them they were horrified and are scrambling to fix it. Originally they were going to be released on 8/1 but they were so messed up they had to push it back. Now RBK is scrambling to make something reasonable.

There's no way that's happened. Just because it can take somebody an hour to photoshop a new jersey doesn't mean it's quite that easy for a hockey team to change everything in less than a month. The Aug. 1st stuff was never real anyways. It was never once confirmed by the team and it was just media and fan fueled speculation based on one article in a newspaper several months ago, there's been no delay with the unveiling and I fully believe the team had intended on a late August launch all along contrary to popular opinion.

How come the ice chards are darker, shouldn't they be white ?

interestingly enough, these are the only two logos I've seen which have the ice chards in a darker color. I'm not speaking to the validity of the bottom one being new, just making an observation. has anyone else seen older logos with the shards a darker color also with the white ice ? this could be of some significance, from what I remember the podcast logo is quite new...

The Detroit Red Wings have had to move the “C” and “A” patches from the left side of the jersey to the right. It was a required move when the Winged Wheel had to be slightly adjusted due to the new jersey panels leaving no room for the “C” or “A” on the left side without it hitting a seam. The letters had to be moved because the new jerseys are constructed of multiple panels, more so than the old models, and there wasn’t room for them above the tip of the Winged Wheel on the left side without hitting a seam. Has anyone else heard of other teams doing this because of their logo?

Attached File  capnCANUCKS2.jpg (10.59K)
Number of downloads: 50 Courtesy of the Victoria Times - At the Canucks State of the Franchise, Chris Zimmerman described the new logo as an evolution from the old logo and that the Orca was still going to be a part of it. He also mentioned that he didn't want to seem like the logo change was a money grab. Those statements suggest that the change wasn't going to be a major one, but perhaps more of a change to fit the new, form-fitting RBK jerseys.

This logo - real or not - fits this description.

If this is the new logo, I like it. While the Orca remains the primary mark, it's a much simpler Orca. I like the blue and silver - the Canucks have already changed their website to these colors - and I can certainly see how it will look on the RBK jerseys. In all honesty, I was hoping that they would go back to the vintage stick and rink jersey, but overall this isn't a bad change.

I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money that the new logo is exactly that. The jerseys will be in the same style as the Fin's Friends one, including the "Vancouver" wordmark. I'm 99.9% sure of this, quote me on it.

This is what the above logo would look like on the site:
