I'll vote that the original re-design was the version on the Fin's Friends thing, but when they saw them they were horrified and are scrambling to fix it. Originally they were going to be released on 8/1 but they were so messed up they had to push it back. Now RBK is scrambling to make something reasonable.

There's no way that's happened. Just because it can take somebody an hour to photoshop a new jersey doesn't mean it's quite that easy for a hockey team to change everything in less than a month. The Aug. 1st stuff was never real anyways. It was never once confirmed by the team and it was just media and fan fueled speculation based on one article in a newspaper several months ago, there's been no delay with the unveiling and I fully believe the team had intended on a late August launch all along contrary to popular opinion.

How come the ice chards are darker, shouldn't they be white ?

interestingly enough, these are the only two logos I've seen which have the ice chards in a darker color. I'm not speaking to the validity of the bottom one being new, just making an observation. has anyone else seen older logos with the shards a darker color also with the white ice ? this could be of some significance, from what I remember the podcast logo is quite new...

The Detroit Red Wings have had to move the “C” and “A” patches from the left side of the jersey to the right. It was a required move when the Winged Wheel had to be slightly adjusted due to the new jersey panels leaving no room for the “C” or “A” on the left side without it hitting a seam. The letters had to be moved because the new jerseys are constructed of multiple panels, more so than the old models, and there wasn’t room for them above the tip of the Winged Wheel on the left side without hitting a seam. Has anyone else heard of other teams doing this because of their logo?

Attached File  capnCANUCKS2.jpg (10.59K)
Number of downloads: 50 Courtesy of the Victoria Times - At the Canucks State of the Franchise, Chris Zimmerman described the new logo as an evolution from the old logo and that the Orca was still going to be a part of it. He also mentioned that he didn't want to seem like the logo change was a money grab. Those statements suggest that the change wasn't going to be a major one, but perhaps more of a change to fit the new, form-fitting RBK jerseys.

This logo - real or not - fits this description.

If this is the new logo, I like it. While the Orca remains the primary mark, it's a much simpler Orca. I like the blue and silver - the Canucks have already changed their website to these colors - and I can certainly see how it will look on the RBK jerseys. In all honesty, I was hoping that they would go back to the vintage stick and rink jersey, but overall this isn't a bad change.

I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money that the new logo is exactly that. The jerseys will be in the same style as the Fin's Friends one, including the "Vancouver" wordmark. I'm 99.9% sure of this, quote me on it.

Then the jerseys should be like the ones on page 82

Yup, the only difference being that the wordmark on the home jersey will be "Vancouver," just like the away. Also, the logo on the away jersey will not have white ice, the ice will be a royal blue, just like in the Fin's Friends graphic. In addition, the shoulder patch will be a more modernized stick-in-rink logo. I guarantee it.

I hope that this isn't the jersey. I can't stand the whale logo anymore. If they spent a Million Dollars on changing colors of the jersey then the wiz kids in the front office could of paid me half that and my 2 year old daugther could of made something better with her crayons.

I just hope we have horizontal stripes on our jerseys. I hate the vertical ones.

Where did this "One Million Dollars on the new logo" come from anyway? To my knowledge it came from Dave Pratt. The same Dave Pratt who said the Canucks kept trying to trademark new/different logos and they kept coming back denied b/c they were already used. Nonis said that was NOT true, and Pratt said his source was wrong then. Could he have gotten the one million dollars idea from the same source???

If it really was a million dollars, you gotta realize that that whole sum was not given to the person who "designed" the jersey. That number probably came from any money spent changing anything to do with the old logo as well as the design itself. They will probably have a big ad campaign after the new sweaters are unveiled....you think thats free???

If they say it cost 1,000,000 for the redesign they are referring to designs of materials. So paint, jersey fabrics, trade marking fees, etc. are not going to be in that fee. They wouldn't need to get a new trademark for a change in logo colors. Do you think I would be able to use the canucks logo if I changed it to red, yellow, and black?

What may be involved is that their would be design cost in developing promotional materials, and stuff gm place with the new color scheme.
