Yup, and looking at team stores that are currently selling their new jerseys (i.e. Washington Capitals), whites are away and darks for home. :3

I thought the same thing, but home is dark and away is white. Quoted from TSN More time was probably spent talking about whether teams should wear white or dark sweaters at home. After much debate, and many proposals and votes that did not provide a majority, it was decided to maintain the status quo and home teams would continue to wear dark jerseys next season.

or maybe because it's because white is more mysterious....and the photo is somewhat artsy, with the background being bright white as well

Not true, Both jerseys have changed, even if its slightly so, and Didnt the Redwings flip the Capitan C and the Assistant capitan A to the shoulder!?!?!
