Oh no, not this again.
Yes, our name is the "Canucks", but how do you put a "Canuck" on the jersey? I'm sure you already know, but Canuck means Canadian and it's going to be pretty difficult to get a Canadian on the jersey. Perhaps we could put a maple leaf? But oops, that's already been done. And even then there could be the argument that our name is the Canucks, not the Leafs. My point is that the word "Canuck" is not an object; therefore it's hard to put a picture of an something that would represent a Canuck. That being said, I think that the Orca does a great job representing Vancouver, the west coast, and Canada as a whole. You probably already know this, but I'll just quickly point out that it has great native artwork, vibrant colours to represent where we live, and the Orca to represent the west coast.
I would also like to add that I would much rather have the Vintage as our full-time logo and that my personal favourite is not the Orca. However, I don't think the Orca is a bad logo whatsoever. The only way that we could really put "Canucks" on the jersey would be by literally writing it out, and in my opinion the Orca certainly beats out just writing the word "Canuck".
OK I just want to make a point, you can argue all you want. The Orca is a corporate logo. Orca Bay originated from the states. Oregon or Washington. We were spoonfed that B.S. that the Orca represented Vancouver. It doesn't. We have a good logo, there's no excuse for the orca, they clearly still want to represent the corporation on our jersey. To me, it wouldn't matter how cool it was(even though it is ugly), it represents a corporation, not Vancouver, a Canuck, hockey or anything that we as Canucks stand for. I would rather see just the word Canucks on our jersey's as opposed to that corporate garbage. Although, that wouldn't be my first choice. You can think what you want to think, but the fact remains that the Orca was never meant to represent the Canucks & it doesn't matter how much drivle the ownership spoonfeeds its fans; It will NEVER represent the Canucks or its fans. If they cared they would have paid some attention to the legions of Canucks fans who pleaded to get rid of the orca. They would have noticed all of the fans who purchased the Vintage Jersey. It's all about money period. I bet they think more people will by the new jersey with the orca with colour change as opposed to the stick in rink with a minor design change, because so many people already own vintage Jerseys. It is all about MONEY.
