Logo Leak?


Alleged Leak:
Taking a closer look at the Orca logo on the alleged leaked version reveals some interesting changes that make it more believable.

I have created a HIGH RESOLUTION VERSION (UPDATED) of the leaked logo. As well as the leaked word mark "CANUCKS".
I've also edited the image of the jersey so it looks complete, and added the new standard NHL neckline.

• The jerseys will be blue/green/white vintage colours

I agree, especially with Naslunds jersey... the "C" looks dumb with the word VANCOUVER just inches below it. It doens't take $1 Million, or however much it cost, to figure this out...

I slept on it.

It is not the worst jersey we have had (86). But I still cant get into it. I love the t-shirts with the same front (logo and VANCOUVER) but the jersey is too busy and looks like a tourist jersey you find in gastown. (hmmm olympic coincidense) With all the hype, it is a Cut and paste dissapointment.

I still think I will wait for a 3rd jersey.

Those are pretty good. I wonder if one of you with photoshop skills could try a version where the lettering is kept but the logo is smaller.

This jersey is just so UGLY. I can't stand it. I went to the jersey unveiling at gm place thinking i might pick one up. But what i came to see was a devastatingly ugly jersey that i wouldnt touch with a 10 foot pole. I don't know how anyone can like the new jersey its hideous. It's so ugly that its being voted as the most ugly jersey in the nhl on just about every official forum in the nhl. Thats rite. It is THAT UGLY.

absolutely. I hate the front on the jersey but i love it on the T-shirt.

i actually love the new uniforms.

there were a lot of feelings going through my head when the league announced the jersey switch last year.
one of the conditions of the agreement with reebok originally stated that all the teams would use the same template for the new jersey - vertical stripes up the sides and up the arms, no horizontal striping.

i was livid with the idea that Vancouver would have to change everthing to please some guy in a fat suit in new york. absolutely livid. almost every night i went to bed hoping for horizontal stripes.

also, after a rough start to our friendship, i eventually grew rather fond of our neighbour whale. When people were posting in different threads this past season saying "GET RID OF THE WHALE! BRING BACK JOHNNY CANUCK, OR EVEN A FIGHTER PILOT OR THE SKATE OR THE RINK, ANYTHING ELSE!!"

I would always stand up for our good friend the Orca, which is probably the fiercest mammal represented by our league. Hell, even great white sharks don't stand a chance against our whale.

Also, while the canucks were playing last season, i started to get tired of our navy blue jerseys with the red. not that i didn't like it, i just felt it was more symbollic of a group of players that had moved on. to me, that colour scheme, as great as it was, represented the old west coast express, the highflying offensive, bring you out of your seat with rush after rush, but prone to defensive mishaps canucks with the core group of Marc Crawford, Cloutier, Jovanovski, Bertuzzi, Naslund, Morrison and Ohlund.

and even though half of that core remains, this is distinctly a different team. new coaching staff, new mentallity. I liked the vintage colours so much last season, and i was really pulling for a return to that colour scheme in the future.

As for the Vancouver wordmark? I saw someone post this picture weeks ago:


and after studying it for a while, i grew really fond of the wordmark. I figured, the Canucks are Vancouver's team. they are OUR team. Why not flaunt our city's name on the jersey? It is a great representation of who we are and where we're from. I am a proud Canuck fan, and a proud resident of Vancouver. Also, i liked how retro the idea was. I researched a LOT of old old jerseys - you know the ones that are so old the pictures are all sepia toned? and many of them had the arched team/city name. Also, i don't think any other team in the league will have that, so i liked it. I was also pulling for the typeface. I thought it looked just aggressive enough to not look tacky. i thought it looked very modern, and suited the brand very well.

So? after all this was said and done.. everything that i wanted in a Canuck jersey? lets see....
Horizontal Striping? Check.
Vintage Colours? Check.
Keeping the orca? Check. (This i really like, because as i said earlier, half of that core remains, so keeping part of the identity of that is a good thing, just moving it in a new direction)
the Vancouver wordmark and typeface? Check. I also like how they used the typeface for the numbering and the nameplate (by the way, for those interested, the typeface is Agency and you can find it here.

So basically, when i first saw naslund skating out wearing those jerseys? I was in love. I love them, so much. they are EXACTLY what i wanted.

Anyone know what the biggest differences are between the Authentic and Replica jerseys? Is it really worth shelling out an extra $200 for better stitching and fight straps? Is the material different at all?

Another difference is that replicas don't normally come with a name on them. You can get one put on, but it's typically more.

I'm assuming they're stitched on the same way though. Will the replicas have the new dry-fit polyester or whatever it is? I just don't want the same type of jersey as the old CCM's but with new colors.
