Haida artwork:

The real deal is actually MORE cartoonish. The current logo is a toned down Haida stylization. Judging from these, we need far more red in our logo.

This reminded me of this art (probably the same group) that I saw in Gastown. There's like an aboriginal store out there with carvings and such, if you'dve ever walked in gastown you HAVE TO HAVE seen it, but there were these orcas in there, colored our current (since the new ones aren't out) colors... pretty cool though....
If my foot ain't in yo mouth keep it shut hater.

I'm getting sick of people who have no idea why the orca is even on our jersey. Fine you like it, but don't argue that it has something to do with the canucks or hockey or anything. Just stop.

I'm not trying to get in a war of words with you friend. That's not the point of these boards. We have a difference of opinion and that's fine, I did not intend to insult, I wished merely to display the fact that the killer whale is in fact a fine animal to use to represent a team from British Columbia. I am, however, interested to see what you would suggest as an alternative to really suggest what you think is a Canuck. Personally I love humanot's logo of the WWII pilot. It's classy and fantastic, the closest thing I have seen thus far to what could be a Canuck, but then in that case you could also argue...what does a pilot have to do with hockey?
I believe you could make a case about most of the logo's in the league and I would be interested to see how you would defend them.
Toronto Maple Leafs -> What does a leaf have to do with hockey?
Ottawa Senators -> What does a politician have to do with hockey?
Calgary Flames -> What does a flaming 'C' have to do with hockey?
Edmonton Oilers -> What does an oiler have to do with hockey?
Boston Bruins -> What does a bear or a 'B' have to do with hockey?
Detroit Red Wings -> What does a wing have to do with hockey?
Florida Panthers -> What does a cat have to do with hockey?
Tampa Bay Lightning -> What does a lightning bolt have to do with hockey?
Washington Capitals -> What does a capital have to do with hockey?
New York Rangers -> What does a ranger have to do with hockey?
New York Islanders -> What does an island have to do with hockey?
New Jersey Devils -> What does a devil have to do with hockey?
Pittsburgh Penguins -> What does a penguin hold over a killer whale exactly?
Dallas Star -> What does a star have to do with hockey?
Anaheim Ducks -> What does a duck have to do with hockey?
Los Angeles Kings -> What does a king have to do with hockey?
San Jose Sharks -> What does a shark have to do with hockey? p.s. Orca's are known to kill sharks on occasion.
Colorado Avalanche -> What does an avalanche have to do with hockey?
Minnesota Wild -> What does a 'wild' have to do with hockey?
Chicago Blackhawks -> Since when did Indians play hockey?
Columbus Bluejackets -> What does a bluejacket have to do with hockey?
St.Louis Blues -> What does a musical note have to do with hockey?
Phoenix Coyotes -> What does a friggin' coyote have to do with hockey?
Notice a common theme here? At least of all the animal logo's the Canucks have one that depicts British Columbia very well and is cool. Since when was a penguin spotted in Pittsburgh? I don't here there fans gripping about their team name all that much. If anything, logo's are supposed to represent where a team is from more so than what sport the team plays. Just my 2 cents.

A few last points and then I will stop. Since you didn't read my first post very thoroughly I assume you missed how an orca could be used to represent a hockey team. Let me rephrase it in simple terms as to how I was trying to come across. Killer Whales are incredibly smart, extremely fast, cunning and opportunistic predators, kill to protect their young, work as a team and fear nothing. Those are qualities I sure want my Canuck team to have.

The WW2 pilot is good. But its not that the whale should represent hockey, the blackhawks is a tribe of NATIVES. either way its not a whale with blue or white diarehia. The orca is a corporate logo. Orca bay lied to every by saying that it represented Vancouver. It doesn't. Orca Bay is not a Canadian company. The company is from seattle or Oregon. The orca is representing the company not the canucks. This is why so many peop object to the Orca. It doesn't matter if penguins play hockey or having anything to do with hockey. Pittsburgh is called the penguins hence a penguin, not the Wal-mart logo or whatever company's logo that owns the team

I can't believe how you just took the words right out of my mouth.
A team logo is supposed to represent the city, not the sport (IMO). We all know that we're playing hockey, so why not have the logo represent the city rather than the sport? The Orca logo represents Vancouver terrifically. Everything from the colours to the design represent Canada and more specifically Vancouver. Yes, the team is owned by Orca Bay and yes, the logo does also represent Orca Bay. But who's to say it can't represent the company, team, and the city? That's why the Orca is such a great logo, it does such a great job of incorporating everything into one.

Thanks For The Sig Daybreak

All of the above teams have logos or crests that make sense. They don't have to have anything to do with hockey. It has to have something to do with the team

It doesn't represent Vancouver at all, that's just what Orca brqainwashed you to think. There are Orcas all over the Pacific Ocean they are not exclusive to Vancouver at all. That would be like saying that we should have rain drops on our jerseys because it rains in Vancouver, well guess what it rains everywhere else too. That excuse that Orcas represent Vancouver is not acceptable, its not even a good arguement. Also, a very convincing percentage of Canuck Fans do not think it represents our city or our team at all, so how could you possibly think it should represent our team? Because Orca bay told you it represents our city? And even if the orca was exclusive to our city, which it is not, by that logic, then Toronto should have the CN tower on their JHersey or some bonehead who thinks the Leafs should be the only team in the NHL on their jersey. Give up that the Orca represents our city, if you like it, then fine. You want it on the crest cause you like it... but don't give us that lame garbage that it represents the city.
