I get so sick and tired of hearing this same lame donkey argument...

EVERY sports logo is a corporate logo. Period.

I read your points, and you most definately are not speaking for ALL of Vancouver.

I've been a fan of this team for over thirty years and I HATE the stick in a box logo. And here is a lttlie FYI for you...they went with that logo because they thought it would look good on HNIC, hence it would SELL. Sounds like a CORPORATE decision to me.

Point is, not everyone hates the orca logo. Whatever its origin, it is the first logo that represents our region in any way, shape or form and you don't have to tell people that it is in the shape of a 'C'.

Now if you like the stick in a box logo, great. Good for you. Nothing says hockey like pasting a hockey stick on your chest. But it doesn't represent what a Canuck is any more than the orca logo does, and it sure doesn't represent the city of Vancouver or the province of BC.

The best argument I've heard in favour of the stick in a box logo is that it is simple, and the for the fans of simple, it really floats their boat. Good on them.

But I'm a fan of logos and colour schemes that represent the city or region, so I like the orca logo. The orca also happens to be my favourite animal, so I really like the logo. And if the jersey happens to be the green and blues with the orca logo and 'Vancouver' lettering that were 'leaked' on July 30th, fan-freaking-tastic, beacuse those jerseys have the logo I want to see, the colours I want them to use and they mix several of their past jersey designs, which really appeals to the long time fan in me.

You don't like them? Too bad. Don't buy them. But stop claiming to speak for 'all of Vancouver', because you don't.

I agree 100%
great post
go orca logo!!

Anyone think that if we are going with the one with a word mark that fin is wearing it almost looks oldskool style and they could always add like i believe montreal and toronto did with their vintage and have it more like original sweaters with the v collar and just a thicker looking material (hope someone knows what i mean about the stitching and whatnot cause i can't explain exactly the image i have)

Check this out.

I've modified the concept logo to incorporate the stitched blue ring around the inside, used silver for the crack in the ice, and replaced the white border with silver.

I've also added some textures/emboss to make it look more like a jersey crest.

I think it looks even closer to the leaked photo. What do you guys think?

Great work on the updated logo MaximAfinogenov

How long does RBK have the contract for with the NHL? My guess the new look jerseys will flop and when the contract ends so will the leagues association with RBK.

Although they're obviously not the real deal, what's awesome about those is how the sleeves do resemble something you'd see in Haida art, thereby tying in with the Haida-styling of the Orca logo.

I dig.

I still think that just a simple outside border is the best way to incorporate green into the Orca.

Those comments about the green teeth and green around the ice chips are hilarious. But seriously, I don't think the green would ever work for the orca. The green just makes it seem like there is algae or moss growing on the whale. It's bad connotation since that stuff grows on things that don't move.

Like the pic in the Vancouver sun article, it might be cool to have a bit of contrast.... current logo on the blue green white jersey.

Personally, I would like to see a change to the logo. I think change is fine. I love going to games and seeing all the different jerseys people wear. From the blue/green vinatge, to the red/orange/yellow V's and skate, to the red/blue/silver of the orca. Keep it rolling. I think the only colour of the rainbow we haven't used is purple.
