And from three full years ago, the 3 Dmen in drafted in the top 10 of 2004 are not in the NHL this year.

3 Cam Barker
9 Smid
10 Valabik

They are all in the AHL for seasoning and should be good players.

Exactly. The guy saying most top ten picks are in the NHL one year after they were drafted is way off. Fixed your last line for you (AHL, not NHL).
Trade Bieksa? Not even if it was a one for one deal for a guy like Ovechkin. And I am being serious. Linden53

Oh and now Bobby Ryan (#2 2005) has been cut from his NHL team.

BUST BUST BUST.

KOPITAR IS IN THE NHL SCORING GOALS AND RYAN IS IN THE AHL.....BUST....

And it looks like Setoguchi will be in the NHL soon.

Ryan is obviously a bust - drafted by Burkie.

No, we should have drafted Kopitar because he was a very talented center with size, something we needed in the system far more than a defenseman. I'd have been happy if we'd taken Kopitar and he was developing slowly, instead of Bourdon developing slowly. Center needed more depth than defense needed in our system.

At the time of the draft we needed a defencmen more than a centre and alot of teams passed him. We had morrison, sedin, and kesler.

Well really we should've taken the best player available.

I just hate the fact that it looks like he has regressed his development from his 1st training camp. That is the only disheartening part about Luc Bourdon that leaves a horrible taste in peoples mouth. If gives the perception that he is on his way to becoming a bust because he set the expectations so high from his 1st training camp.

When will his ankle fully recover? Some people are saying that it still hasn't fully recovered but where is their proof? Is it something that you notice from watching his mobility?

You're going to get a lot of talk about 'hop stepping' and how his backward skating isn't 'there.'

I made a post a while ago talking about seeing how Bourdon does on a team with some consistent coaching over a full season. He's averaged 45 games the past 2 seasons, played on 3 different teams and in different roles.

He's played well at the WJC and the U20 tourneys he was a part of. I feel if put into the right role to do what he can do, he will turn out okay.

Get a year on the farm to get back into form and gain some confidence. I'm hoping he'll be turning heads by Februaryish.

you know I've always defended Luc & Im going to continue too.

Marc Staal taken I believe 2 spots after Luc just broke into the NHL with the Rangers. AHL time is important & much needed for Luc. They can't all be Crosbys.

Unfortunately too many Woodleys, Polaseks, Herters, Smiths and Holdens.

great point Flinch...this kid has been bounced around (sought after, not dumped) by three different teams........a year of ebing in the same place will do him wonders. Consistency is so important for the development of young players.

OTOH he could be a complete bust... Canucks fans are familiar with that process.

Yeah, but I'm not going to pass any judgement on him until he gets a year in the AHL under his belt.

If he gets injured or is really struggling I'd start to get really worried.

Well if the AHL rookie defenceman is a complete bust, lets trade his sorry donkey !!!!

After all he only has 3 points this season (2 goals and 1 assist) that isn't very many!

But on the bright side he is the leading scorer on the Moose so we should be able to
get 2 buckets of used pucks for him (if we don't mind some other teams logo on them).

GROW UP PEOPLE !!!
Hindsight is an exact science.

bust.

plus he isn't playing goal. How the hell can he be a good first round pick if he isn't a superstar at every position.

^Thanks Canazzy

7 points in 9 games isn't good enough for a defenceman is it?

Out of that 2005 1st round thier is only 2 dmen that have developed faster than Bourdon

Jack johnson 3rd Overall

Ryan Parent 18th overall
maybe Marc staal
so no Bourdon is still on sched when there is more than 5 or 6 dmen that have developled betetr and fatser than him then he is a flop I dont think he too much behind Parent neways either

so really Jack Johnson is the only defensemen who has outshone him form that draft year
