Shirokov with a beautifal goal apparently (listening to radio)

2 on 1 with desbien, was looking to pass, looking to pass, patiently waited till he was in close and went around the tender to the backhand for the goal!

Edit: Desbien slides it through the tenders wickets on the pp on the goal line feed from Shirokov

Shirokov now with 1 G and 1 assist in the game I believe

Edit AGAIN

BLIZNAK WITH "WHAT A GOAL!' steals the puck at the blueline goes in on the break with TWO guys draped all over him and still goes to the backhand and slides it through the keepers legs

"unbelievable effort by bliznack" was the colour call

Bliznak just scored shorthanded (first goal that Shirokov was not in on, a total solo effort by bliz)

Hmm, Call up Shirokov? I also like Bliznak... Call him up to. Scratch Johnson and Glass. Bliznak is an excellent pk.

Congrats to Walsky on his first AHL goal

Congrats to Oberg on his first AHL point

Funk puts up another assist, now 6 points in 7 games. If Rome keeps sucking, we could see a Funk call-upm eventually. Although Schneider will be playing in 4 games.

Moose got a few players today:

Quote

The Manitoba Moose today announced they have signed forward Darryl Bootland to a professional tryout contract.

He finished the season with Salzburg EC in Austria where he appeared in 14 games for 12 points (4g & 8a) and 89 penalty minutes. So far this season, the right-winger has played in seven games with Kalamazoo of the ECHL, where he has accumulated eight points (3g & 5a) and 29 penalty minutes.

In his nine-year pro career, Bootland has played in 32 NHL games with Detroit and the New York Islanders where he’s scored three points (1g & 2a) and 85 penalty minutes. In 370 career AHL games with the Grand Rapids, Portland, Bridgeport and Manitoba, Bootland has 166 points (81g & 85a) and 1431 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by the Avalanche in the eighth round, 252nd overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

I think that we only have two players in Victoria, and that is Dan Gendur and Taylor Ellington.

Help's on the way, hopefully Cory Schneider can help the Moose snap out of their losing streak right away. His performance against Dallas (45 saves) showed that he can play in The Show and should give him a huge boost of confidence heading back to Manitoba.

I'm watching the game online tonight and Shirokov's been really good, he should have a number of assists tonight, but his linemates have missed a number of premium opportunities. Oberg is doing GREAT tonight, every time he's on the ice he's making good/smart plays and has been rewarded with 2 assists, and is a +2. Walsky has also impressed, and of course Schneider has been his amazing self. I guess playing toronto's farmteam helps ;P

Great outing by the moose, perhaps i need to watch them play more often, I think i've only watched them loose once. :P

Great outing by Oberg (0-2-2, +2), Walsky (0-2-2, +4), Rosa(1-2-3, +4), Shirokov (1-0-1, +3) and Schneider (1.00 GA, 0.9474 SV%, 19 saves).

With the injured defense that the Moose has.. Why hasn't Ellington been called up yet?

Any news on him?

You're a good luck charm for them - watch them more often! Posted Image

Anyway, good to see the Moose get back on track offensively (at least in this game) against the baby Laffs. A win is a win, no matter who it's against; always good for the confidence.

Seems like it was a good ol' hockey game, check out the highlights. Some of the stuff that goes on is kinda hilarious actually:
