He earned #1 PP unit ice time last night because he looked amazing on the point passing the puck, holding the line and he even has a bomb of a shot too!
Edler is the next Lidstrom, quote me on that! He will be one of the best draft picks in his draft year when all is said in done because he is the next prototype Lidstrom. Stop comparing him to Ohlund they are nothing alike!
He has a similar body frame like Lidstrom, Skates like Lidstrom, very mobile like Lidstrom, great stick like Lidstrom, Great break out pass like Lidstrom, cool + calm like Lidstrom, Doesn't look like he is trying because he is so good like Lidstrom!
When this kid gets more experience he is going to dominate the league. If you watched him last night you already saw the confidence oozing out of this kid and some of the plays he made last night I couldn't even imagine Ohlund pulling that stuff off! Brilliant!
The way he gets the puck up the ice and out of our zone is more efficient then anyone I've seen so far on our team this year! Watch him grow into his body and get more comfortable with the NA style game! When he gets more mature and experience he will continue to become more efficient.
Like Lidstrom he won't really wow you with any nice stick handling moves or dangles but the basic fundamentals Edler and Lidstrom have are what make them so dominant and efficient in all zones on the ice.
Give Edler more ice time and he will thrive! Let him play with Salo so Ohlund doesn't hold him back and make mistakes on that defense core unit.

Are you high? That is the only logical conclusion I can draw from this post. He IS NOT like Lidstrom, Lidstrom is one of the best d-men to EVER play in the NHL. Give your head a shake. I bet two weeks ago you were singing Raymond's praises, comparing him to all kinds of established players....

Career +/- for Lidstrom is 343
Nobody since Bobby Orr can be compared to Lidstrom or come even close.
Maybe you can start to talk about some rookie who has done nothing after he wins 4 straight Norris trophys eh?
I can never get enough of you fans who think you see some 18-25 yr old kid and say wow that guys better then Wayne Gretzky.
Try learning after 15 years in the NHL, if they manage to stay healthy and dominate every year, then maybe they'll start to get close.
That being said I like the way the Kid plays the game also, but I have no pipe dreams of him ever being as good as Lidstrom.

Duh his career has only begun! He won't be as good as Lidstrom but it doesn't mean he can't play like a poor man Lidstrom because they play similar styles.
Stanley Cup run continues...

Lidstrom was a 3rd round draft pick! He wasn't touted to be one of the greatest players ever coming into the league!

BOURDON IS A BUST YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THIS

You are such an idiot its not even funny.
Bourdon is twenty....barely out of his teens and you are expecting him to be a top four on the Canucks?
He has been rock solid on the Moose so far this year.

That would be really, really nice.
To show that all's equal and that the courts are on the level
And that the strings in the books ain't pulled and persuaded
And that even the nobles get properly handled
Once that the cops have chased after and caught 'em
And that the ladder of law has no top and no bottom,
Stared at the person who killed for no reason
Who just happened to be feelin' that way without warnin'.
And he spoke through his cloak, most deep and distinguished,
And handed out strongly, for penalty and repentance,
William Zanzinger with a six-month sentence.
Oh, but you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears,
Bury the rag deep in your face
For now's the time for your tears.

NO ONE can be compared to him or slated "the next" Lidstrom. There will never be another GREAT defenceman like him.
They are both Swedish, I'll give you that. But the similarities end there. Seriously. I like Edler, he's a good young defencemen, who, if he continues to the play the way he does will be a solid blueliner for many years to come.
But he is no Lidstrom.
