Quote
Since joining the Salmon Kings, Belisle has guided the club to marked improvement. In his first season, the club finished as the second most improved team in the ECHL going from just 15 wins to 26 wins, and overall a 26-point improvement. Last season, the club once again showed considerable improvement as the ECHL's fifth most improved team. The team enjoyed their first winning season improving to 36 wins and 76 points, good for third place in the Western Division. The 41-point improvement marks one of the ECHL's most improved teams in league history. In addition, last season the team had its first winning season and also qualified for the ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs for the first time.
This season, Belisle closes in on his 400th career ECHL win. Since joining the ECHL in 1997, Belisle has secured NHL affiliations with the Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers, San Jose Sharks, Nashville Predators and the New York Islanders. Most recently in 2006, Belisle secured the Salmon Kings first NHL affiliation with the Vancouver Canucks and an AHL affiliation with the Manitoba Moose. Belisle works very closely on a day-to-day basis with Vancouver Canucks Assistant General Manager, Steve Tambellini and Manitoba Moose Senior Vice President and General Manager Craig Heisinger, as well as both club's scouting staffs, to help ensure players are developing for the NHL Canucks and the AHL Moose.
In Belisle's previous ten seasons in the ECHL, his clubs have qualified for the Kelly Cup playoffs nine times. In 2003, the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies captured the Kelly Cup Championship, while Belisle served as Vice President and Alternate Governor of the club.
Under Belisle's guidance, the Bullies became one of only six teams at that time to reach 100 points in a single season during the 2003-04 campaign, setting new team records in the process.
As one of the most consecutively tenured ECHL executives, Belisle was recently named Chairman of the ECHL Rules Committee, in which he has served on for 8 years.
Belisle began his professional career with the Detroit Red Wings in 1984 as Director of Amateur Hockey and then went on to spend seven years in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) with the Detroit Junior Red Wings, Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings and the Indianapolis Jr. Ice. During his tenure, Belisle amassed one of the league's all time best records and won the NAHL Championship in 1991 and again in 1993. In 1994, Belisle was named General Manager of the Year while with Indianapolis.
Prior to coming to the ECHL, Belisle spent time as Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach of the Dayton Ice Bandits of the United Hockey League and also the Jacksonville Bullets of the Southern Hockey League.
