Yesterday, this is what they said the forecast would look for Monday from the three weather sources I checked:

AccuWeather: 5-10 cm

WeatherNetwork: 1-3 cm

WeatherChannel (default app): 0 cm

Let's see who is the most accurate and I might just stick with that app in the future.

https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/?model=hrrr&region=us&pkg=ref_frzn&runtime=2019021105&fh=8

if you’re interested.  This website shows a bunch of raw models for weather forecasting.  A bit over half the models were showing snow for a few days

"This snow"? All 10cm of it.

800k? Do you know how many more vehicles there are in Greater Toronto Area for example. We have the mildest climate in all of Canada by far.

Different snow, no roads plowed, the crews are interviewed with TV cameras all around them, then nothing is done. Or, it doesn't snow at all. This is Vancouver in nutshell. But when it does snow, more than half the people driving have never driven in it, or don't have snow tires. -11C in a damp climate is not mild. I saw -54F in the interior of BC back in the winter of 1968, and happened to come down to Vancouver for a weekend, it was around 0F, I couldn't wait to get back to the interior.

what boggles the mind is the number of people that seem to think that this is the perfect time to run red lights or pedestrians thinking you are able to stop as if there is no snow. People lose their minds here for some reason when it snows. When I first moved here from SK I found it funny, now it just scares me.

They'll close school for anything. Don't blame them I guess - it's all taxpayer funded. Roads are fine lmao

One issue is sidewalks.  If sidewalks have deep snow... kids walk on the streets..

That is just dangerous.

School districts actually send out staff at 6 AM to assess the roads and determine if it is safe for School buses to

operate.

It is not worth putting children's lives at risk just open run a day of school.

Most listed closed are private schools.

Which kind of makes it look like Catholics are disproportionately scared of snow.

You do realize private schools have no catchment areas for their students so get students / parents driving much greater distances to get to school than most public schools...

This morning this young kid, pushed the walk button and stepped right off the curb as if nothing was going on. Luckily I was stopped and predicted that he would do that. No kidding, eh?
