The Province is ending the column written by TEAM 1040 AM sports talk-show host David Pratt after he admitted to plagiarizing some portions of a Sports Illustrated piece written by well-known writer Rick Reilly.

Well he has to have something intelligent to say to Don Hay when they have him on once a week and Pratt tries to pretend that he gives a rats donkey about junior hockey. Otherwise Don probably wouldn't come on. So I'll let it slide.

"I'm looking for stuff from everywhere," added Pratt. "We recycle everything. The sheer amount of volume we produce forces you to constantly be looking for different people's ideas."
He just does not get it. You do not look for other people's ideas and then pass them off as your own.
Here is a novel thought you sack of whatever... have an original idea.
What a prat.

That's the exact same thing one of my university profs said... in a speech about plagiarism and properly citing your sources. That is indeed unavoidable, but that doesn't mean you just take someone else's stuff and run.
Geez Louise, Pratt... where did you go to school...

I heard he graduated from Grade 10... on his third try.
Here is the rationale for being gassed:
"Within ethical standards of the newspaper, plagiarism, short of fabricating information, would be considered the most egregious of sins or transgressions a journalist can commit," said Wayne Moriarty, editor-in-chief of the Province.
And as further proof that Pratt just does not get it:
He describes the plagiarism as a "minor gaffe," saying he saw the Reilly column and thought "that's a pretty good line."
"It was a Saturday and I wanted to get out of [the office] before noon," he said over the phone.

Mind you even referring to Pratt as journalist would give journalists a bad name by association - sort of like lawyers.
What a maroon.

Probably needed to get his leather pants out from the cleaners for his tour of the hot spots on Saturday night.

Man you are totally kidding... Please tell me so!
Anyways, it's probably not a huge thing to him seeing as how he actually admitted he plagiarized... Whatever. We all know Pratt anyways, he doesn't have the best rep around. It's just kind of hilarious.

"We need to send a signal out to everyone, every journalist and the public that we are serious about the standards of journalism." said Stephen Ward of the University of British Columbia School of Journalism.
Pratt will continue to host his show on Team 1040, a sports radio station in Vancouver.
"We at the station are fully supporting David," a spokesperson for the radio station said in an e-mail on Wednesday.
