Thursday, June 12 - 12:18:01 PM News1130 Staff

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver city council has passed a motion that will see the mayor proclaim 'Trevor Linden' day, the day the Canucks retire his jersey number.

Council also directed its street naming committee to find a way to recognize the former Canucks captain, who officially announced his retirement yesterday.

I like this idea giving him a day for him self. AND a street to be named after him.

The thing is, it's only going to be a 1 times thing, not an annual thing, and we shouldn't have to wait another year for it.

Cool. I like the idea of having a street renamed for him, not so much the single-event of a day. Still, both are well deserved.

I don't think so.....
I'm pretty sure after the 98 olympics, there was a Ross Rebagliati Day,
But you never hear anything of it anymore.

As far as I've heard, when they name a day after someone, it's a one time thing, otherwise everyday on the calendar would be taken by now.

But it is only for our city... not like every day named after anyone would be on the calendar, cause this is just for our city. So not too many people, but u could be right, I'm not too sure, but I thought it was annual

this is great, it should either be the 11th, the day he was drafted and the day he retired,

OR

the 16th, everyone can see my reasoning behind this view

well deserved, I still wish he could play one more year
