Matt Pettinger The New Alex Burrows of 08?

Well Before I talk I would like to say sorry if I spell anything wrong...
But what is up with all the negativity against Matt Pettinger, I know he may be the odd man out, but that was what everyone though about Burrows before trainning camp.

He has scored 20 goals in the past, and also 16 goals after that. I know the east coast is supose to be better for goal scoring, but...

I think Matt Pettenger has the size and skill that is needed more then Ryan Shannon and even Wellwood.

I also, think he is like Burrows and will be able to have a good season like burrows did last year.

He's no Burrows. But I think he'll do well playing with Kesler and Burrows.

How about we wait and see how he plays the first .. 3 months? And THEN we critiscize him? Kay?

I like Pettinger and think he deserves a crack at the lineup, but his high goal totals were while playing with the likes of Alexander Semin.

Ah, I gotcha.

Well, I like Pettinger, he got four goals in what, 20 games here, after jumping right into the lineup. That's not bad at all. I think he was one of the hardest working Canucks down the stretch.

I SURE DO!!! i remember seeing that on tv and I thought to myself... DAYAMMM nice hands! he has a great upside... everyone just wait and see...

He picked up 4 goals and 2 assists after coming here at the deadline in 20 games.... (that could easily translate to 16 goals in 80) not to mention adjusting to a new setting... I believe if we put him in a more offensive role than he had after the new system in washington, he can definately hit 20 goals again.

Matt will be fine here in Vancouver now that he has both of his feet a little wet in the home blue and green with the white trim

Sure do! :)

I think Pettinger's 16-20 goal offense will kick back in...maybe not completely but it will be better than the 6 or so goals he had this season. Just my prediction.

I remember his first goal as a Canuck too, that one against the preds, when he scored it I was like "This guy's got ballz". Matt Cooke couldn't have scored like that.

from what I've seen on here everyone loves Petinger, Pyatts the one everyone seems to critize and call expendible depsit the points he put up playing on all 3 lines last year

I think Pettinger will be a great addition on to the 3rd line with Burrows they will compliment each other very well and if Kesler is with them then it will be even better they will be a dynamite 3rd line.

so we got a wicked 4th line in The Horde/Ryan Johnson/ and either Krog/Hansen/Cowan/Pyatt

our shutdown line is looking pretty with Burrows/Kes/Pettinger

our second line is set with the Twins and Bernier

now we have a big hole left in centre to go bewtween Raymond and Demitra.

vancouver fans are famous for the "what have you done for me lately" way of thinking when it comes to liking players.

burrows had a few good stretches last year but that was it, for the most part he is barely an average player.

remember how our fair city thought of cowan a few years back? now look.

I think he should stay with Kesler and Burrows. He did very well for us last season and he deserves a chance.
