Very interesting I was listening to the team 1040 on sunday morning and they figure Jannik Hansen to be in the 08-09 canucks roster on the fourth line becasue he is so extendable he can play checker, scorer or be a gritty player. They said also that he is the rookie who has the best chance of cracking the 08-09 roster. Also found this article in the Province:

Province Article Its a good read.

well come opening night we will see but for now check him out in the pre-season games on sportsnet i think his debut is on tommorrow night at 7:00pm.

Discuss...

definetly. our forwards are so lacking in depth, we might as well bring up some of our youth for development. Hansen has arguably the most potential of any forward in our prospect system

You have GOT to be kidding. I would love to know how you would defend that statement.

Not saying Hansen is a bad player, I love his playing style, but no way is he the best forward prospect in the system.

I agree, but look the guy only has 80 posts give him a break and also Hansen is reprotedly the most ready not the most skilled Hodgson Schneider and Grabner would top that list then Hansen.

I definitely think Hansen is the most ready. I seriously hope he makes the Canucks roster this year.

The third line would be better than the forth.

yeah, maybe I mistated that. I don't mean to say he's the most skilled forward, I'm just saying he's arguably got the most potential and the most NHL ready of our forward prospects at this point in time. That's not to say he always will be, he could easily be surpassed by Grabner or Hodgson in the next couple of months.

Hard to say about Hansen...He could be a good checker, but might not have the same chemistry with Burr and Kes. Fourth line doesn't work too much either, but since AV juggles a lot, it might work out.

Hansen could slide into any one of our lines making him so versatile

Yeah, I think he can thrive the most playing with Burrows and Kesler.

really?
we have
Sedin, Sedin, Bernier, Wellwood, Raymond, Demitra, Krog, Kesler, Burrows, Pyatt, Pettinger, Johnson, Hordichuk, Brown, Cowen, Grabner, Hogdson and Hansen

how are we lacking depth? As it is now there is barely room for all the vetrans on the roster.

55th Shawn Lalonde- D- Bellville (OHL)
85th Eric O'Dell- C- Sudbury (OHL)

If Hansen doesn't make the opening roster, he'll likely be the first call-up.
Teams that had a more successful year than the Canucks:
Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes...
...That's it.

There's a reason Norwegians don't make the NHL. Lackluster point totals in AHL. Injury-prone. He still has yet to play a regular game season. Bust.

And last, but not least, I KNOW Cody Hodgson is going to make Gary Lawless (of Winnipeg journalistic fame) look like the idiot that he is. Cody has pressure to rise to NHL level play, but I believe he will rise above it and win the Calder. I said it here, today...remember that.

what an incredibly silly thing to say....to imply that post count somehow is a measure of knowledge on a subject.....

If Scotty Bowman showed up on CDC and posted a thread on how to be an effective GM, but it was his first post, would it be any less valuable than if it was his 100th?

Number of posts is more a measure of life balance than topic knowledge.....e.g. the individual might actually get knowledge from a variety of sources outside of CDC as their life is more open to such instead of being stuck in front of the computer on a single site all day...

Just sayin.... :)

What part of Norway does Hansen come from? Last time I checked, Denmark was still a country of their own, Has there been an amalgamation of these 2 countries?
