hlinkas wrister
Was one of the best soldiers I've had the pleasure to watch in Canuck colors, right up to the end. Thanks Alex.

danjr
What a shame I missed the last game. Sorry that he had to go. At least he is on a Canadian team and hopefully he can really help them push for a Cup and bring it back here! He is a legend in my heart and I will never say a bad thing about him............The Dragon Slaying goal is worth every cent we ever paid that guy through his entire career! 1
Popular Post -DLC-
This is heartbreaking to me. I'm kind of at a loss for words...just listened to Burr on The Team. Will be back to say a proper goodbye when I'm able. Right now I'm trying scrape my heart off the floor but the puddles of tears are making it impossible. I know it sounds dramatic. Because it is.

Burr is a warrior and one of the best Canucks players to ever don the jersey. I loved his compete level on a nightly basis and showed it game in and game out. He will always be remembered as a Canuck and I hope he wins the Cup one day with the Sens. If not after his contract expires and signs back with us when we will be a up and coming team who will be competitive. I have no words either but this was for the best. Wish Burr the bestest of luck! Watching his story over the years over achieve every step of the way has been memorable. So many game difference making plays along the way. The logical part of me is happy we got something good in a trade. If it was a 2nd round pick, it would seem like a waste. It doesn't make it any easier to swallow though. I'll be cheering him on in Ottawa just the same. When does Ottawa visit next? He deserves the warmest welcome return of respect from the fans. VanGnome
Maybe I'm just a fan that looks at players as replaceable, certainly that doesn't take away from my appreciation of Burr. However that being said, his last really productive season was 2011-2012, I know he's battled injuries but time has also really caught up with him. I'm amazed that Benning was able to get the return he did, and thankful that Burr gave way to the business of the game despite how much this organization and time here has meant to him. Sentiment is great for memories, but doesn't do a whole lot for the improvement of the team, which at the end of the day is always here despite which players come and go. We want you to win it because you saved the franchise, and took the Sedins to new heights. We want you to win it for every undrafted twenty-year-old kid. Every kid who still has that burning passion, that fire inside, and that unwillingness to give up on their dreams. We want you to win it to show big Jake, that where you're drafted and how talented you are is meaningless if you're not willing to work. If you're not willing to give your heart to the sport and put every ounce of effort you have into every game. We want you to win it because you're the ultimate competitor, the toughest to play against, and the best teammate. We want to see you shoot that arrow to the sky one more time, and then lift the cup towards Luc. And let’s be honest; we want you to win it just to piss off all the haters one more time. JetJockey
Just read the news, very hard to digest at this stage! I was up at 6am when he scored that Game 7 goal against Chi! *Buzzsaw*
Burr's a hero to me... never quit, never complained, worked his tail off till the end. Bled Blue and Green... Don't worry Deb... he'll be back... and you'll have a chance to watch as he stands at center ice and gets inducted into the Ring of Honour.

Production comes in many forms. What you see on the scoreboard is only part of it. When a team is struggling and there's a guy who will rally everyone...who doesn't give up, even if we're behind, that counts for something. His determination and never say die attitude set a great example for younger guys, who could roll over and let the negative creep in to affect their mental game if someone wasn't there to balance it all out. Cheer them on...just like he said he'll continue to do. He produces in the form of a winning mentality that has no quit. People with one dimensional thinking check stats and points for value. Some of us go to the games and see all the inner workings...the chemistry....the glue that can keep teams together even through the rough patches. Let's face it, this team has had those...the adversity we've faced at times has been huge. But he never shies away...he was always available to provide his honest insight. There's a guy who cheers harder than everyone else FOR everyone else. The guy who digs pucks out of the net at every warm up and high fives each and every teammate at the end of the game. Brings a team together. That improves a team....when you know the guy beside you has your back. A guy who is the epitome of never quitting and giving it your all because...who knows? Even when he wasn't racking up points, he was invested. Always. And we'll only realize the full magnitude of it once he's gone. Big skates to fill, and we just lost a piece of our heart.

Bissurnette
Truly the heart and soul of the organization. This is a sad day for canucks fans. His never quit attitude, his defiant demeanor on the ice, his team first approach, his love of the game, his community work, his leadership, his work ethic, his journey to the NHL are what it means to be a Canuck. He's the definition of what a Canuck player should be like. When he was reminiscing about his first goal: "And the most important thing, we won that game."

The point I was making Deb, is that unless Burrows was producing points to the club which he was doing well with this year considering the miles on him, there likely was not much of a spot for him on the team moving forward despite what Benning may say publicly about having had the possibility of bringing him back. Burrows brought more to the table than points, yes, but intangibles come in all different forms and is not exclusive to experience or age. The team is trending younger, and the one thing I've noticed about younger players stepping into the league over the past 3-5 seasons, is that recently they tend to bond more with similarly aged peers than they do with their senior counterparts. The veterans who have been in the league, and I'll use Henrik as an example, think a certain way about how things should be done, or quantify effort a certain way. Recent young players I think are more mature than 18-19 year olds were (overall) than 5-10 years ago because the business of hockey is everywhere, and the expectation of what it is to be a pro filters down into the developmental leagues. Burrows was and is a heart and soul guy, I just don't know that that "kind" of intangible has a place on this team moving forward. The other side of it is, Horvat appears to be the new up and coming leader of the team, and if he's going to lead the team he has to be able to do that without feeling obliged to stay in the shadow of the veterans on this team, sooner or later they will move on same as Burrows. Edler, Sedins, Erikkson I suspect will not be with the team inside of 3 years, once the retool has been completed, and Benning went a long way toward completing that retool by aquiring Dahlen.
