Guys like Burrows win your team the Stanley Cup.

Burrows is hands down my favorite player, and plenty of other peoples favorites. He's an inspiration for a lot of people to play hockey. Sometimes hard work does pay off and Burr has earned every inch of respect he's given.

After all these years, Cliff Ronning lets us in on a secret that speaks glowingly of Trevor Linden's competitiveness and tenacity.

"You don't know this, but Trevor Linden had cracked ribs and torn rib cartilage for the last four games of the 1994 Stanley Cup Final," Cliff Ronning said.

clutch is obviously a masochist. Noone is stupid enough to think Burrows sucks, so I think he's just spreading em and saying "Hey CDC posters, come rape me, I love it, I need attention, any sort of attention!"

when he can get someone like Iginla to fight him who do you thinks its going to hurt more Iginla off the flames for 5 mins or burrows off the canucks for 5

Burrows is the consummate team player. He get wacked and stacked each and every night and loves it...
From what I hear he's very well liked in the locker room. He's great for this teams chemistry.

Burrows is a joke? Easily replaced? GARBAGE? lol.
Give ur head a shake buddy, he does the job he is paid to do night in and night out, and the fact he can put a few points up at the same time? Burrows is the type of role player that can help you hoist hockey's holy grail.

Jeez. If that's the case, we might as well get rid of half of our team.

You've only listed one debateable reason as to why we should dump him. Would you care to add more? (besides the fact that he's French-Canadian)

If the third line, hopefully consisting of Kesler, Burrows and Hansen can agitate, hit, forecheck hard, create chances, put up some decent numbers, plus all three guys have great wheels, then why do we even need burrows to fight?

Hordichuk can scrap, Brown can scrap, Davidson isnt afraid to drop em. Overall team toughness has gone up considerably over last season. To say the guy is a joke because he cant fight is ridiculous

I know allot of people are going to scorch me for this but I fail to see the reason why nobody questions his ability to play in the nhl. Every game i watch with him in the lineup(all of them) I find myself screaming at the tv because of the stupid stuff the guy does. Personally i'd rather have any of the guys that are fighting for a spot on the team rather than burrows. Everyone's #1 reason they like this guy from what I read on this forum "He's great on the pk. Who cares! Anyone can do this thats fighting for a spot. He can't score and i'm tired of kesler carrying this guy on his back night after night, I'm tired of him losing the puck, falling down everywhere seriously this guy falls down a hundred times a night can't he skate its ridiculous, stupid penalties its endless. "He plays with grit" is another common description tossed out when his name comes up. That ok sure he pisses off guys but fails to do really be able finish that job off by being able to fight because he can't. IMOP he's an embarrassment to the team. Please Gillis let this guy go keep Krog or Pettinger or Brown whoever. let er rip.

He took one stupid penalty he had 3 points in the last game and a point in the first game he played, you buddy are not making friends on here at all

LOL every single post so far has disagreed with the OP. I think he's making a case for himself to be a better agitator (of CDC) than Burrows :P j/k

Burrows is the bomb and is complete role player. Got not one bad thing to say about him.

We dont need him fighting we got players to do that. Hordy and Davison are heavyweights, and brown and RR are midlleweights whay does Burrows have to fight.

Your opinion is inept. He is perfect at doing his job. He agitates, he is a ferocious checker and he scores an occassional goal.

Buy a clue buddy!

I stated my reasons . I just dont think that hard work is enough in this league. you have to be good at something .... he is not.

at least he goes for it. Id rather see my guy stick up for a teammate and lose the fight then pull a typical swede move and kinda ignore it/hold a guys sweater.

ie. Last season sticking up for Mitchell after Rolston ran him into the boards. Too many times last season our guys were pushed around and noone on our team responded to cheap shots against teammates. Dont expect that this season, well unless Ohlund and/or Krajicek are on the ice.

Letting him go just via waivers or FA would be kinda stupid, but if someone wanted a trade for him, like a 2nd rounder or a more offensive prospect i'd take it. Yes he has a lot of heart and good on the PK..but we have quite a few up and comming players who can do that as well, it's not like he brings something unique to the table.

I mean really, does he have the potential to get a lot better? Doubtful, probably more beneficial to the team to trade him sooner while his stock is still high.

wow I didn't read the other posts but I imagine you got flamed pretty good for this post and for once I think flaming on here was justified

Burrows is the kind of guy every teams wants
he gets underplayers skin, can get points (31 last season), is amazing on the PK (and no not anyone can do that, that's why defensive forwards exist in the NHL) and has a low salary

Burrows actually got the most points per $ earned among all canuck players-- not a bad stat in the cap era

Which is why it's a good time to cash in on his worth now rather than wait. I think this kid is really great at what he focuses in (defensive forward, agitator etc..) but the Canucks have quite a few people who can fill that role.

he jumped rolston and still got slammed to the ice . I do agree that we got pushed around to much last year but I dont think that will be a problem this year . so he has no value anymore . I dont think you should bring Ohlund into this ...just ask mikko kiovu what it is like to play against him and If i remember correctly ohlund has fought Iginla and did way better than burrows could ever do.
