White could definitely become a top six forward. No one really considers it because of what the Canucks will have down the road. When White is ready to play in the NHL.

We expect Henrik Sedin and Cody Hodgson will be the 1st and 2nd line centers for a long long time.

Well, for 3 of the next 5 years maybe? Cody could nee a couple of seasons under his belt, before he's ready for a Top 6 role? And I think Henrik will be gone after this contract? Back home to finish his career in Sweden.

We'll see by then but at this point. I'd say White will be NHL ready in 2-3 years and you would imagine that Hodgson and Henrik Sedin would have the 1st and 2nd line center roles.

Thanks, RK.17 for the Sig!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the twins searching for a much longer term than they got?

Don't count him as gone after his contract just yet..

They asked for 12, but realistically they probably never even thought about the possibility of finishing all 12. Maybe 8 years at most but I have a good feeling they are done after their contract.

I think he could be a top 6 forward. Did many people think that Kesler would have been a top 6 guy at this stage of his career? Burrows on the top line of a division winning team would have sounded absurd when he was 23.

To me it seems that he is a confidence guy. He'll need to be treated carefully in order to get the best out of him. Yeah, I know, he's a big boy and should be able to perform blah-bitty blah blah. If he has the talent, you do whatever it takes to make him perform. Pretty much the same as I view Steven Anthony.

I'd say he should stay in college this year and make the jump next season. By all accounts, he was starting to put it together at the end of last season.

We'll see but I think it's a stretch to say he will be a top 6 forward at this point.

Please dont ever compare White to Kesler ever again. Kesler had more points in his freshman year than White has in 2 years. Kesler was in the NHL at age 19. At age 20 like White was last year Kesler scored 30 goals in the AHL. I have yet to see a report from any non bias person saying White has shown anything, Good lord he is the 17th highest rated prospect in the Canucks organization.

Would anyone here consider Patrick White a success if he became a very good fourth liner for the Canucks?

Well, let's say he becomes a 10g/10a 4th Liner who kills PK's and takes important face-offs...I wouldn't call it a success, but I wouldn't be that upset about it. I still think he can become a very good 3rd Liner who works the half-boards on the 2nd PP unit, using that great RH shot of his.

However, if you posed that question to the people who already written him off, they would gladly take that.

Not sure how White can be NHL ready in 2-3 years. The guy is pretty much average in NCAA so far, and he'll have to dominate that league, than be called up to the AHL and dominate that to get a call up or two. All that in 2-3 years? Doubt it...

Looks like its time to lock this thread.
Or at least move it out the Canucks Prospects sub-forum.
