I'm curious: is anyone actually worried about his back long-term anymore or do you all think he's in good hands and will be 100% after his treatment regimen is done?
Tough to say. I think it's pretty reasonable to remain cautious and a bit concerned about a player as young as CH suffering this kind of a setback (one usually expects back problems to show up a bit later in a player's career) due to (what became) a lingering back problem (whether simply by early mismanagement of the injury or simply by its severity) but he's definitely been in the best of "good hands" once actually treated at the Cleveland Clinic (we can maybe question how good the "hands" were with his medical care in Vancouver but that's another issue...) so I would tend to trust the prognosis his current specialist is offering, which, by all indications, is a good one. However, back injuries are tricky and, without access to CH's medical records, etc, it's very hard for anyone to know what the longterm issues (if any) might be. I think it's safe to say that, at the very least, some people remain a bit worried about this back issue resurfacing in the future and possibly limiting CH's development and chances for a successful NHL career. That all being said, I still would bet on CH making a complete recovery and eventually being "100% after his treatment regimen is done", simply because he is young and should (under proper medical care and rehab/training) be able to come back from this unscathed. That's the hope anyway, I'm certain, for all Canucks fans and most Canadian hockey fans (given CH's WJHC prominence).
