I would pick Rundblad, but the problem with Rundblad is the competition he will have on defense in St.Louis via Johnson, Colaiacovo Cole, Pietrangelo, Fairchild, Junland etc.

At least with Moore, Columbus does not have a lot else in terms of offensive defenseman, so you could see him in the NHL sooner rather then later.

I think you're likely to see De Haan in the NHL before any of the other players mentioned because the Islanders don't have a lot going on defensively right now other then Mark Streit. In terms of prospects, outside of Aaron Ness and maybe Harmonic/Hillen, it doesn't look good.

I would go for Rundblad over Moore based on ceiling alone, Rundblad's ceiling is off the charts. His offensive skills are unreal now, and are only going to get better, whereas Moore is still developing is offensive game. Moore is more of a J-Bo like two-way skating defensman, so if you are going for all out point totals it has to be Rundblad.

About the Islanders defensive prospects, I actually think they are fairly solid there....Jyri Niemi is a beast, and has a Salo-like slapshot, Katic is similar to Ness but still skilled, same with Jared Spurgeon. It seems like they have the guys to develop, they just need to do it properly, which is not their strong suite. Besides that I think de Haan is quite aways a way from contributing in the NHL. If they take a Nashville type development approach, I think it will realitically take 3 years for de Haan to be ready to play full time in the NHL. He may get rushed there, but he needs a lot of added strength.

I agree with this. I'm a huge Rundblad fan, but for a keeper league, I'd go with Moore all the way. Barring any big surprises, the future top pairing on the St. Louis backend looks to Johnson-Pietrangelo, while John Moore looks to be Florida's answer to losing Bouwmeester, and their future #1.

Of course, De Haan is always an option, but I have major qualms about how much of a wild card he is. NYI took him fairly high, so obviously scouts see some crazy upside to him, but imo, both Rundblad and Moore are easily a step above him.

I flipped a coin, and came up Moore.

Guitarded27, John Moore was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets, not the Florida Panthers who selected Dmitry Kulikov.

Johnson-Pietrangelo may end up being the #1 pair in St. Louis in the future, but one only needs to look at the Chicago Blackhawks top 4 this past season. It was clearly evident Seabrook and Keith were their #1 minute eating pairing, but who got the prime PP time? Campbell and Barker.

I think Rundblad's offensive game is quite a bit futher a long than Pieterangelo's, and Rundblad would likely get 1st unit PP time if I were the coach.

PP time is where you get points, and thats generally how you win fantasy leagues!

Moore has a lot of developing to do to become a real offensive force, but he does have Columbus' lack of defensive depth on his side. Not that CBJ had no good D prospects, but they are more stay at home 2-way guys, whereas Moore could develop into a top 2.

Dargh, my bad, I totally blanked there  . Same situation either way though. Columbus needs to find a partner for Kris Russell, and Moore would fit in very well. I would still take Moore in a keeper league, although he does seem to need some more development time, because I think he'd make a pretty big impact for Columbus sooner than than Rundblad would for St. Louis, especially with all the d-men in their system. Although I do think that Rundblad should be more NHL ready than Moore, Columbus's situation could see Moore breaking out before David Rundblad does. Moore-Russell could be the CBJ's first PP pairing, top pairing d-men for years to come, and although Hitchcock plays a defensive system, Moore's numbers will be inevitably inflated somewhat, playing with the offensive youngsters in CBJ's system (Nash, Voracek, Brassard, Filatov).

Another question for the CDC Prospects forum regulars in the know. Or anyone else that wants to answer it.

How would you rank the following forwards:

Jerry D'Amigo
Ben Hanowski
Josh Birkholz
Taylor Beck
Michael Latta
Ryan Howse
Cody Eakin
Ryan Bourque
Alex Hutchings

And then the following defencemen:

Philip Samuelsson
Brayden McNabb
Tyson Barrie
Ryan Button
Eric Gelinas
Seth Helgeson
Sami Vatanen
Alex Urbom
Simon Bertilsson

Forwards First, in my ranking order:
Howse
Hutchings
Eakin
Latta
Beck
Hanowski
DÁmigo
Bourque
Birkholz

Keep in mind that these players dont all play similar games.

I actually think the most effective NHLer will be Latta, but he doesnt have the natural goal scoring ability that Howse has.

Defense:
Gelinas
Button
Barrie
Mcnabb
Bertilsson
Vatanen
Helgeson
Urbom
Samuelsson

I think the Gelinas, Button, and McNabb will be NHLers, the other guys (Vatanen and Barrie) could end up having better numbers, but the likelihood of that occuring is lower than the likelihood the top 3 turn into servicable NHLers.

Cool, thanks. Much appreciated.

Next question: Igor Bobkov or Edward Pasquale.

Bobkov since Pasquale choked.
Marian Gaborik = Marian Glassorik

I am just looking for clarification as to why you think Pasquale choked.

He swept a solid Guelph team in the opening round of the OHL playoffs.

Saginaw was outmatched by a clearly better London Knights team in the 2nd round. I would definately say he didnt choke in that series, if that is where this sentiment comes from. Teams get outmatched, it happens all the time.

I am wondering if you can even name anyone on Saginaw's roster last season. It's hard they were built from the net out, and were lead primarily with older players, but for someone to put blame on a goalie is unfair. It's just like the Anti-Luongo sentiment when the Blackhawks beat the Canucks this year....the Canucks lost not Luongo.

And since we are talking about chokes, didnt Bobkov get shelled in the gold medal game of the U-18's this year? He didnt choke, the better team won just like Pasquale.

To answer the question: Pasquale over Bobkov.

Bobkov is very raw right now, he has good size, but his positioning and lateral movement are not great.

Pasquale is far more refined, has a big body, good rebound control, and very good lateral movement.

Bobkov backstopped a U18 Russian team that didn't appear to know the word defense (slight exaggeration, warning!) and had a .927 save percentage. In my world he has far more potential than Pasquale.

Pasquale let in 34 goals over 8 games (I believe in the second round of the playoffs), and his stats were not good down the stretch. Pasquale is the safer choice, Bobkov at least IMO, has more potential.

Fair enough.

I just didnt like your usage of "choked".

I dont think he choked, Saginaw wasnt a very good team offensively, and defensively they werent very good either.

Pasquale faced a ton of rubber all season, he may have wore down, or maybe they were beat by a surperior team. I think it was the latter.

Bobkov could "potentially" be better, but as of now, I dont think he is.....he has a lot of development/growing pains to go through, like all goalies, I guess.

Pasquale to me has already proved he can handle a heavy workload and face a lot of shots and still be effective.

IMO you cant judge Pasqùale on his playoffs, especially since he was facing a stacked lineup in London.

He did lead the Spirit of a first round sweep of a very formidable Guelph team, so he obviously wasnt that bad.

Fair enough. I dont dislike Pasquale, he was on my want list, but I just think Bobkov has the potential to be that much better. Hopefully they both can succeed.
