Sergei Shirokov is definitely a solid hockey player. There's a reason why he was drafted in the later rounds because it wasn't known for sure whether he'd want/able to come over to the NHL. This is not new of course, remember Bure was drafted fairly late too! Hold out hope though, cause if the Canucks become bonafide Stanley Cup contenders, lots of quality players will want to play in Vancouver, recall Hossa and Detroit?

shout out to pavlelink for the sig

The real test of the quality of the current stay-at-home ruskies saying
no to the NHL and yes to fast easy money in the KHL is in 2010.

You do know why Bure was drafted late right?

Yeah, he's gotten a bit lazy with the more creative sarcastic comments lately. Heck he even called me out for being sarcastic back and sounded offended!

But then he pointed out he was still being sarcastic... You're slippin, Sarcastic!

As far as the thread, I know nothing about this guy. I'm assuming this should be in the prospects forum but looking at his stats, he's a little bit smaller playmaker?

Well his KHL contract is up at the end of the year, so this is the absolute last chance we have at signing him.

Have someone chase after Shirokov. Maybe Gillis should fly over there to speak with him. We have a potential star player over there.

wasn't there this big plan to draft kablukov cos him and shirokov were friends and bring them over together... or am i way off and need more sleep? or was this a conspiracy theory that never was real... anyway, it'd be nice but i feel they'll fade away with the likes of gladhisk and krikunov.

There hasn't been much to be sarcastic about.

The Greyhound massacre was the only one and that fell in my lap.

If Shirokov doesn't want the Cup, then why would the Canucks want him?

Oleg Saprykin? Yeah, I remember his all-star days.

Quite frankly I'm surprised people still aren't familiar with me. That Alex Edler thread still has nuts thinking I'm serious when I pretty much made it blatantly obvious I'm doing what my name says.

In no way am i comparing him to Ovechkin or Malkin but their best seasons were 30ish points in the RSL only 1 assist is awarded for a goal. and that one assist has to directly contribute to a goal.

Only the first assist counts on each goal.

Stricter rules about if the pass counts as in assist (no stick infractions along the way, etc).

Pretty sure thats just a myth.

They are just stricter about handing out assists.
