I know it's written into their contracts or whatever, but to do it with a smile on their face is very impressive.
Big thumbs up.

I was in Childrens for one of those visits in December of 99. They were all awesome except Messier. I remember having a full-out ten minute conversation with Brashear, and Brian Burke was very friendly as well.
The Grizzlies came a few days later, and that was the day I learned Mike Bibby wasn't caucasian.

I agree, though on my hardhat, I have the name Robot as my name. You know, just to let management know that I'm aware of where I stand with them.
So even robots agree!
Let's go eat, Johnny.

I've been at Childrens twice just for some surgery but nothing life threatening, I met many terminally ill patients and I can just imagine what seeing the Canucks does for these people. Unbelievably classy.

I love the twins picture, the Sedins look like authentic guys. Beiska too. What a great thing that the Canucks do, to have the Canuck place, and to visit every year.

I spent my fair time in the BCCH between the ages of 10-18 and having a small visit like that means a lot.
It's scary enough being a sick kid but being in the hospital day after day not being able to go outside and do normal things, being stuck in one room all day and night, and it's the night that is the worst, is hard for any child.
Laying there in your bed, the only noise the machines beeping that are keeping you alive. It's scary to say the least.
So for those kids who get to see the team come in, even just the anticipation the day before that they will get to meet the players is enough to distract them from the loneliness they feel at night once their parents leave their side.
And at least the evening after they met the team they will still have that in their mind to help them get through another night.
Depressing...yes. Reality...sadly yes.

Then do it.
You know it will be fun. What are you waiting for?!
And its dominated by Taylor Swift, so I'm not gonna post it or I'll lose my street cred on CDC.

My gf works there and she called me yesterday during work to tell me that they were in the building. Sometimes I feel like I could be there just to meet them, but I look at the big picture and admire what it means for these kids to see these guys. I've spoken to a few of these kids and it's awesome to see the huge smiles on their faces when they talk about how the Canucks came to visit them. Some of the kids are more than happy to show off their huge autograph collection. The team even hands out signed player cards specifically made for such events which I don't think are available to the public making it even more special, including Fin.
Too bad the hospital staff aren't allowed to approach the players, but then again this visit is purely for the kids and I totally agree.
Thumbs up to these guys! Especially with Christmas around the corner.

It's funny you say that. That little baby's name is Cohen. Its my friends baby. They live in Nanaimo, but mom and son have been living at the children's hospital since his birth in August. The dad goes back and forth between the island and vancouver due to work and their other child here. Good news though is that Cohen and mom are heading home to the island tomorrow (Friday). The Canucks came and visited just in time!
