I'm with you on that one. I love the original Clerks but the sequel was godawful. I can't believe that it got a standing ovation at Cannes. As for the actors (not including cameos) Rosario Dawson and Jason Mewes (as previously mentioned) still work, albeit not exactly on the same level of stardom. Kevin Smith apparently quit everything.

Kevin Smith announced Clerks 3 yesterday. It's going to be his last film.

Which is great because you're wrong and Clerks 2 was awesome ;)

If anyone is having a bout of annoying good spirits and wholesome joy, I suggest watching Never Let Me Go. It will cure you. ***Do not watch movie if there are any sharp implements or nooses nearby as exposure may cause involuntary suicide attempts***

Yeah...didn't like it much either.

Elf - 7.5/10

I'm normally not a Will Ferrell fan but I liked this one.

Red Tails - 6.5/10

One-dimensional characters and chalk full of cliches, but the aerial battle scenes were cool.

As a Kevin Smith fan, I wish I were wrong, but I'm not :P Yes I found the internet battle with the disabled guy funny. Making another guy puke for talking about Sam bricking in Frodo's mouth in the LOTR movie was also funny but overall the jokes weren't good enough to hold the film up as a proper sequel to the original (even with the donkey show).

So KS switches gears from a hockey movie to Clerks 3 for his finale.......I don't think I could be any more disappointed in the big guy.

The hockey movie is still happening. Kind of. It's going to be a 6-part TV miniseries.

I've watched a few movies lately.

Ted 6/10. Really wasn't that funny

The Hills Have Eyes 1 Remake: 9/10. One of the best horror movies I've seen.

The Hills Have Eyes 2 Remake: 3/10. Terrible movie.

Red Dawn - 8/10

Storyline of about how North Korea invades the Pacific coast of the United States and eventually inland and how its a war story against the North Koreans. Definitely American patriotism in the movie but it was a decent movie. Had its funny moments. The younger brother of Jed looks like the teenage version of Aaron Rodgers.

Life of Pi is a fantastic movie, but obviously it's not an action packed thriller we've been used to this year.

If you're gonna watch Skyfall/TDKR/Hobbit then go watch Life of Pi, you're probably going to get bored. It's a movie that pulls you into it simply by the premises of it's plot, and the visuals are simply outstanding. I've never seen such beautiful animals and wildlife before, even if it was on a screen.

Saw Red Dawn tonight 5/10.

I loved the premise, but the story kept falling flat when I needed it to bring me in.

Plus poinnts -
Loved Chris Hemsworth in this, plus points for the movie reminding me that last place I enjoyed his character (not Thor, but Star Trek).
Loved The Comedian being in it. I don't care what character this guy plays ever again, he is The Comedian.
Won some money at the Casino on my way home.

Minus Points
The brother was annoying as balls in virtually every scene.
Kids became trained guerrillas thanks to a montage.
Resolution (I needed something to pull me back in before I left the theatre, the end got all "300" on us)

I know you weren't asking me, but I just thought I'd throw this out there. I haven't seen Life Of Pi but I read the book a few years ago. The third act, the interview part of the story, was what lead to accusations of plagiarism and threats of litigation against the author, Yann Martel. I've been interested to see the movie mainly for how they treated that part of the story. More info here:

The Tourist - 4.5/10

Not terrible, but it was definetly forgettable. Not sure about the chemistry between Jolie and Depp. Wasn't believable that she was in love with him in any way. More worried about him than anything. Have to say, it was better than I expected though. High point was Timothy Dalton. Can't watch a movie with him without thinking about Hot Fuzz.

Finally got to watch Shutter Island and it gets a 10/10. But then again, I really, really like this kind of movie. Could have sworn Leo was channeling Boston Rob at times but all in all, more than worth the 138 minutes spent watching it while wrapping Christmas presents. I've never been a Leonardo DiCaprio fan (harking back to Titanic days  ) but I thought he was incredible in the role of Teddy Daniels. Loved the whole 1940s setting and the feel to the movie...... and that feeling of every time you think you've figured something out in the plot it turns out not to be so. I know some hate that feeling of wandering around in circles within circles while watching a movie but Scorsese does that to the viewer most masterfully in this film.

Sent several unrepeatable comments in the direction of the television as TD walked down those stairs at the end, though......... now checking Amazon to purchase the book. Which is usually the other way around for me...... book first, then watch the movie.

I did. Quite early, actually. But watching how it was going to unfold made it worth hanging in there to see how it played out. It did not disappoint.

Anna Karenina - 6.5/10

Visually stunning (both the sets and certain actresses) but I found that I was not interested much in the main plot. I preferred the story of Levin and Kitty but their story line seemed squished in as a side note. Also, given the fact that the book is 800+ pages long, I felt like they compacted everything way too much and so there are characters that never really develop.

I've been watching some 007's. Not all and not in order though.

Dr. No: 7/10
Decent start to the series, but can be easily forgotten.

From Russia With Love: 8.5/10
Kept me interested throughout the film. Pretty good in general.

Goldfinger: 10/10
My favourite so far. All the gadgets were a great idea (especially the Aston Martin DB5). Great storyline and a fun watch.

Live and Let Die: 6.5/10
Definitely liked Connory more than Moore. It was kinda boring for me and the sheriff annoyed the hell outta me.

GoldenEye: 8/10
Brosnan was a great choice for Bond. He had the look for him and played the role well. Good story and a good movie overall.

Casino Royale: 10/10
Although Craig doesn't have the look for 007, he can play the role damn well. Terrific storyline and a very good watch.

Quantum of Solace: 7/10
It was alright. I don't get why people hated it so much. I understand that it wasn't as good as Casino Royale, but it was a decent movie.

Skyfall: 9/10
Great film. That's about it.
